Dubai around this time of the festive year is luxuriously splendid, so it’s totally worth a visit if you’re thinking of fancy but affordable Christmas destinations to go to.

Although temperatures are warm and mild from Late November to December, you can feel the chill at an indoor ski resort and your can kids build their own snowman and see Santa Claus at the annual Winter Festival.

For some light retail therapy, you can grab last minute gifts at Nasimi beach, go to Santa’s Village at the Emirates Golf Club or dine at some of the finest sea food restaurants in the city.

Calabar is a great location to spend Christmas in as it is Nigeria’s tourism capital.

It has so many stunning attractions which include: Ibeano beach, Obudu Mountain Resort and Tinapa Resort, just to name a few.

Let us also not forget the annual Calabar festival which runs during the last days of December. It’s an event that brings the nation together through dance and music and attracts worldwide attention.

If you chose to reside in Tinapa Resort, you won’t regret it because it’s built with a world class shopping complex, 8-screen digital cinema, excellent restaurants and plush comfy rooms to stay in. Not only do you get to enjoy time away from home in a relaxing environment, you have a range of entertainment options to indulge in.

With the state of the economy and the low naira value, it makes perfect sent to spend in Nigeria rather than in dollars when abroad. Calabar is a wonderful place and there is a place in this city for everyone, no matter what their budget is!

3. Mauritius

Christmas in Mauritius is warm and sunny so you could use that as an opportunity to have outdoor Christmas dinners, long strolls and picnics on the beach and getting your feet wet in the crystalline waters. The food in Mauritius is exquisite, so help yourself to lots of seafood like grilled lobster and calamari with some vanilla tea to wash it down with.

Mauritius is also visa-free for Nigerians so nothing should get in the way of booking a cheap flight there.

4. London, United Kingdom

Nearly every gastro pub and restaurant in London serves a delicious traditional Christmas dinner, along with the traditional mulled wine to compliment it.

The British people are crazy about Christmas, quite like the Americans, therefore, there’ll be a lot of colorful bright decorations in the street and plenty of sales in the stores so you can shop till you drop. Christmas in New York is just magical and what I like the most is the feelings of 'togetherness' it brings. The streets are adorned with glittery decorations, people are in high festive spirits and many big stores have super discounts which means you can get gifts for you and your family at discounted prices.

Go ice skating in Central Park or visit the Christmas market. There are over 100 vendors, selling discounted Christmas gifts, drinks and tasty street food.
