Rivers rerun: We threw heads into river, buried bodies in shallow grave – Suspected killer of DPO, driver

One of the prime suspects who beheaded a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Mohammed Alkali in Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local government area of Rivers state, has reportedly confessed to the crime.

Alkali and his driver, Sergeant Peter Uchi, were gruesomely murdered during the December 10, 2016 re-run election.

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris, had set up a team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder and the team arrested some of the suspects.‎

One of the suspects, a 22-year-old man identified as Chukwuemela Ekikeme, was apprehended at about 6:00pm on Saturday.

Ekiekeme, also known as Prince Okoroma, an indigene of Okposi village, near Omoku, had come out from the creek to visit his girlfriend when luck ran out on him, sahara Reporters revealed.

Upon his arrest, he confessed to the beheading of the DSP.


According to him, his (Alkali) head and driver’s body were thrown into a river while the white Mitsubishi pick-up van belonging to the police was parked deep in Uju Forest with the key stuck in the ignition.

He led police operatives to where the deceaseds were buried in a shallow grave.

The patrol vehicle has since been recovered.

The suspect also confessed that he and nine members of his gang had seven AK-47 rifles, two pump action guns and that they ambushed the police team because they felt they were against their party.

He listed other gang members as Kachi Nwokocha, who is their sponsor, Bright (Gang leader), Kelvin, Chukwuemela AKA Jungle Justice, John Ahiaikwo, Izu, Okechukwu, Ngozi and Christian.

You shouldn't mention someone's name for something as serious as murder if you aren't sure of your facts. That said, Wike was a government official under Amaechi. These politicians shift support as much as it favours them. You can't say who's where.

Why do you need the IGP to visit the place? There are qualified officers in Rivers state that are handling the investigation. Seems you worried about Wike's cover plot which is about to be blown open.
