The permanent secretary in the Niger state Ministry of Youth and Strategy, Alhaji Adamu Umar, who was kidnapped a week ago, last weekend reunited with members of his family, just as the Niger state governor Dr Muazu Babangida Aliyu, described kidnapping as “crime against humanity.”

Alhaji Umar was kidnapped at Dikko junction, on his way to Minna, after a contact session at the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, where he was pursuing a Masters’ degree programme.

Umar stopped at Dikko to purchase a gallon of red oil when the kidnappers abducted him.

At Government House, Minna, on Saturday evening, where the rescued permanent secretary was received, by a high powered government team led by the Secretary to the Government, Dr Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, who represented Governor Aliyu, the governor said that all lovers of peace should condemn acts of kidnapping which had of recent attained dangerous dimension in the country.
