Good day to all the programmers in the house and wishing you all a merry Christmas celebration in the process too.

I am currently working on an eCommerce website project for a client based here in nigeria, i have gotten to the point of integrating the website with a payment gateway portal or provider e.g paypal, 2checkout, securepay, etc.

Now the challenge am having is whether to go for a local or foreign gateway payment portal, or to put the question out clearly; WHICH GATEWAY PAYMENT PORTAL CAN I USE FOR THIS INTEGRATION AND I WILL ALSO NEED THE SETTINGS TO CARRY IT OUT?

Thanks guys as i await your usual prompt responses.

Merry Christmas once more and a prosperous 2017 to all of us.

Which of the ecommerce platfor are you using? Currently I'm building ecommerce application with Magento 2.1. Most of Nigeria payment Gateway don't have module for version 2. So the only option I have now is building one by my self, by Integrating Paystack

Am not using a framework for it, rather am building from scratch with php and mysql.. Do I need to create an account with them, I mean the Paystack team before I can now integrate to my e-Commerce? If yes, could you please help me with the process.. thanks..

Yes you'd need to create an account in other to get your api keys.. Just visit their website (google?)

Shameless plug - - if your e-commerce Web app is a custom Web app running php/hhvm, you'd want to check out this package https://github.com/adelowo/gbowo

for a client based in Nigeria and traffic mostly targeted at Nigerians, international gateways are out of consideration. i have not used all of them but check out voguepay.com, simplepay.com, gtpay and i think zenith bank provides a gateway too. a guy wrote a blog article about payment gateways in naija but i can't remember the address. i think google should help you there.

voguepay.com and simplepay.ng top the list but you can go to their sites to check and compare the commission rates both collect. both are third party which means they are middlemen. they serve mostly individual and small business merchants who can't afford the big boys below or maybe testing the waters, hence their requirements are low compared to the broses below.

They major payment gateways in Nigeria are interswitchng.com and unifiedpaymentsnigeria.com but both are expensive to setup but very reliable. interswitch handles mastercard (it seems they are mastercard clearing house in Naija) and their own verve card while unifiedpayments serves same purpose for visa card. Both requires you to be corporate body before they can give you access to their services at exhorbitant setup cost. you can get their commission rates at their sites.

i can't recommend any for now, just do your due diligence and pick the one that will serve your needs.

Paystack pays out merchant services in Nigeria? I have never heard of that. That's obviously one factor to consider man.

Since you're building it from scratch why not to use interswitch it's supporting all local and international credit card with maximum security and the integration isn't long process its just redirect and authentication

Whao shocked, so you had to create something from scratch. It might be easier using this plugin from VoguePay for magneto. https://voguepay.com/magento

VoguePay is one of the popular local gateways so it might be a better option than a relatively new one in terms of security and robust feature.
