The WORD was made Flesh

Jesus Christ is the Word Who was pre-existent with God before the creation of the world (Col 1:15). He existed from eternity, distinct from but in eternal fellowship with God the Father (John 1:12) and He is God (John 1:1). It was through Him that God the Father created and sustains the world (John 1:3; Col 1:16-17; Heb 1:2-3). Christ, the eternal God became a human being (Gal 4:4-5; Phil 2:5-9). Humanity and deity were united together in Him. In a humble way He entered human life with all the limitations of human experiences (John 7:29; John 10:36; Heb 4:15).

He is the Seed of the woman Who God said in Genesis 3:15 will bruise the head of the serpent. The prophecies concerning the birth of Christ the King and Redeemer has been foretold from ages past. Moses the man of God says this about Him in Deut 18:18 ‘I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put My words in His mouth; and He shall speak unto them all that I shall command Him.’ Isaiah in Isaiah 7:14 spoke thus concerning His coming ‘ Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.’ Micah 5:2 says ‘But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.’

His coming was not without attempts by Satan to destroy Him. The devil kept his hope of destroying the Son of God even after He was born. He moved Herod to destroy all the male children from two years old and under who were in Bethlehem (Matthew 2:16). He raised people and kings of the world to take a stand against God’s Anointed (Psalm 2:1-2). He finally thought that he has succeeded when he moved the chief priests, Sadducees, Pharisees and the Jewish people to crucify the Lord Jesus. But like the Psalmist puts it in Psalm 2:4 ‘ He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.’ This prophecy was partly fulfilled when Christ rose from the death, having triumphed over Satan by disarming all the demonic powers and authorities by His death on the cross (Col 2:15). Christ stripped these satanic forces of their power to hold men and women captive to the dominion of evil against their will (Matthew 12:29). We see God the Master Planner allowing His Son to be crucified, thereby using it to fulfil His salvation plan for mankind (Acts 2:23-24; 1 Cor 2:cool.
The prophecy of the psalm quoted above will ultimately be fulfilled when Christ the King of kings and the Lord of lords will terminate human rebellion and fully establish His kingdom upon the earth. All who oppose to His rule will be defeated and all the enemies of God will be destroyed. Meanwhile God in His infinite mercies is giving another opportunity to those who oppose His rule in their lives to be wise by submitting to His Anointed One and serve Him in reverent fear (Psalm 2:10-12).

Conclusion
Jesus Christ is the One Who came to save us from sin, deliver us from the power of darkness and translate us into His kingdom (Col 1:13). By His death, He provided for the removal of the guilt and power of sin and opened the way to God for all in the world (John 10:9; Heb 10:19-20). The King came with the kingdom message to reveal His Father’s will to us. His Father’s will is ‘that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day’ (John 6:40).

God gave His Son as an offering for sin on the cross. The atonement proceeds from the loving heart of God. It was not something that was forced down on Him. Have you accepted the Son of God into your life? Do you believe on Him? Do you have a sure conviction that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and the only Saviour of lost humanity? Do you have a self surrendering fellowship with and obedience to Christ Jesus? And finally, do you have a fully assured trust in Christ that He is both able and willing to bring you to final salvation and to fellowship with God in heaven? Think about these.

Till we meet again on this platform, God bless you in Jesus’ name, Amen.
