The Borno State Governor Governor Keshim Shettima has reopened the Gubio-Damasak road after three years of shut down due to Boko Haram attack.

The Borno state Governor, Keshim Shettima speaking during the event expressed joy over the reacquiring of Borno towns from the Boko Haram terrorist group.

Governor Shettima said the best Christmas gift ever given to Borno state was the reacquiring of the Borno towns especially Sambisa forest from Boko Haram.


He further expressed hope that the persistent fight against Boko haram will enable peace in the state.

The Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai speaking during the event expressed joy during the event. He also commended the government for paying the military operatives as at when due.

The army chief had a ceremonial drive in the reopen Gubio- Damasak road.


The reopened route leads Baga town, a town popular for its huge fish potentials and Damasak Local government, popular for its agricultural activities.

The area have been deserted by residents since the boko haram incidents which have destroyed lives and properties in the locale.
