One of the greatest impacts of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, the Executive Governor of Lagos state, on the general development of the mega-city is his selection of key actors in the present administration which includes the appointment of the current sole administrators in Lagos state.

The magnitude of His Excellency’s achievement is best understood by reflecting on his early history as the Governor of Lagos state and noting firstly, the progress from the use of old and aged people to the use of intellectual young people; secondly, the restructuring of the civil service for better performance with optimism that it would improve the process and procedure of service delivery and create opportunities for global competitiveness; and thirdly, the improvement in the character of work from being an individualistic activity towards an activity which assumes a social character through the participation of many.

Ambode has made history by appointing the youngest sole administrator in the history of Nigeria. Along with him, was the selection of Princess Elegushi and some other young intelligent characters in the State. These in a long range represent a morale booster to the youths at large that definitely there is a hope for better and greater Nigeria which will and should be built around the youths for proper growth and development.

We members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Lagos axis, which has the largest students’ convergence in Nigeria, are proud of having one of us as a sole administrator. Hon. Gbenga Abiola is a student like us, a young intelligent man who cares and wants the best for youths and students in order to meet the present challenges in the society, thus, proffering solutions as at when needed. He has continued to make us proud by being an effective administrator as he is continually praised by all and sundry. We hope to see more of young people like Hon. Gbenga Abiola meaningfully involved in the government of the day, as wish the Governor merry Christmas and happy New Year in advance.‎
