Nigeria youth international Douglas Uzama has been killed by suspected cultist in Benin City, Edo State Nigeria.

Uzama was a part of the all conquering Nigeria U-17 team of 2015 and also played for the U-20 team during their ill fated attempt to qualify for next year Africa Youth Championship.

Last season he represented newly promoted Nigeria
Premier League side Gombe United, where he was part of the defence line that helped the team gain promotion.

Suspected cultists on Thursday, December 29 shot dead the Gombe United defender in Benin City according to a statement from the military.

Uzama becomes the second player from the domestic football league to be killed within three months.

It will be recalled that Shooting Stars defender, Izu
Joseph was recently killed.

His close friend, explained that Uzama was on break in Benin City, where he was attacked and confirmed dead on arrival at a hospital.

“He was still on break in Benin City and was yet to
resume for the new season,” the friend said.
