Fraudsters may well cash in on speculations that Nigeria are shopping for a new coach. . .

Top officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have warned that some fraudsters are trying to extort money from unsuspecting coaches and agents on the pretext they can get them the job of coaching Nigeria at next year's World Cup.

There have been speculation surrounding the future of Nigeria coach, Shuaibu Amodu, following a clamour that he be replaced by a foreign coach despite qualifying the Super Eagles to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

However, chairman of the technical committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Taiwo Ogunjobi, has declared that the football association are yet to declare the coaching job vacant.

"I want to first and foremost say that we have not advertised for this job," Ogunjobi told goal.com.

"It is therefore important that I tell people that they have to beware because some dubious people may now capitalise on these speculations to extort money from them on the understanding that they will get them the job.

"I have already received numerous calls from people in this respect and have warned them that there is nothing like this and that they have to be careful so that they are not duped."

The board of the NFF is expected to meet next week in Abuja to discuss plans for the country's participation at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the World Cup.

The future of Amodu as Eagles coach will certainly be discussed at this meeting. It is believed that the NFF will support Amodu leading the country to Angola 2010 despite the insistence from the Presidential Task Force that Nigeria need a foreign coach, if they are to do well at the World Cup.

Why would it be vacant after all the suffering Amodu has been going through before getting Super Eagles ticket to South Africa?
