slimfit1:THAT ONE IS A LONG STORY. MOST TIMES, D ENEMY OF THE MASSES PROGRESS IS FROM D SAME AREA. OIL RICH INDEED, USING URINE TO WASH YOUR FACE WHEN THERE IS CLEAN WATER CLOSE TO YOU. DO YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF THESE OIL RICH COMMUNITIES DON'T HAVE BASIC SOCIAL AMENITIES & MOST OF D SO CALLED RULERS FROM THAT REGION ARE NOT UNITED IN BRINGING DEVELOPMENT TO THEIR PEOPLE, BUT ARE UNITED WHEN IT COMES TO STEALING OF D PEOPLE SCARCE RESOURES & WEALTH. DO U KNOW THAT WHEN MONEY IS BUDGETED 4 PIPE-BORNE WATER, BRIDGE. ROADS ETC IN MOST RIVERINE COMMUNITIES, D PROJECT IS EITHER NOT DONE OR UNCOMPLETED. IT IS A SAD DEVELOPMENT. DUBAI IS AN OIL RICH AREA. THE LEADERS THERE ARE NOT SAINTS BUT THEY ARE USING THE RESOURES/ WEALTH TO POSITIVELY TRANSFORM & TOUCH THE LIVES OF PEOPLE. D RULERS IN NIGERIA SHOULD LEARN FROM THE LEADERS OF UAE AS REGARD DEVELOPMENT OF D NIGER DELTA. 1 Like |

VulgarVulvas:you see how misinformed you are... I stayed in the north for close to 12 years. Even attended FGC Daura.. The northern politicians have their people at heart. Even as the PTF chairman then, Buhari transformed the whole of katsina state using ptf funds, all major roads in katsina town, funtua and Daura(these r the towns i know of and i am sure there are many more) were tarred under the PTF scheme, All my text books and exercise books were free via PTF, the road from Katsina straight down to Abuja was dualised via PTF funds, the inscriptions are still there till date..infact PTF was used by Abacha and masterminded by buhari to create and develop the several infrastructures in d North.. I might not be a Buhari fan ohh..but one sure thing is is this, a northerner with power would touch the lives of his people and his environment(though d almajiris will always b dere, more like a curse).. while a southern and western politician will only steal for his pocket. No impact on his people whatsoever or his close environment.. e.g is OBJ and GEJ.. |

highpriest4:don't compare Lagos island with bayelsa. a friend of mine from bayelsa once told me that they used to travel for up to a week on canoe from their community before they get to mainland. Bayelsa towns and villages are islands far apart from another. Connecting them by bridges is almost impossible |

paulsir:God bless you..i was just explaining this to someone on this thread also..u can check out my reply post also.. The Northerners are much better when it comes to touching lives and impacting on their environment(even if they loot funds also, cos all politicians are thieves)...but we southerners are just selfish.. we can't even use our position to do good roads for our people, create jobs, develop infrastructure, all we care about is to steal and steal senselessly..Imagine the money found with patience and Diezani..That money can go a long way in transforming their region, but na lie..they would rather steal it and enjoy it alone, while their people keep drinking water from the same place they piss into..shame shame shame.. 1 Like |

Look at this young man! The parts of northern Nigeria that are beautiful were built by the whites because hausa's just gave in to their colonial administration. They found it hard to get direct administration in the South East and South South. Apart from Lagos which was the capital of Nigeria during the colonial administration, which other part of South West is presentable?? divicoded: |

Fremancipation:WE DONT NEED TO BE BLINDED BY POLITICAL SENTIMENTS. WHAT A LAME EXCUSE! Nigerians are the problems to Nigerians and Niger Deltans are the problems to Niger Deltans. Question one: DOES GEJ NEED PIB TO AWARD A BRIDGE CONTRACT? Question two: IS IT NORTHERNANTS THAT ALSO RAPE THE WOMEN(INCLUDING PREGNANT WOMEN) ON THOSE BOATS AND TAKW AWAY ALL THEIR POSSESSIONS BOTH FOOD AND MONEY? Question 3: WAS IT NORTHERNANTS THAT KIDNAPPED THE WHITE MEN WORKING ON THE NEMBE ROAD AND KILLED THEIR ARMY ESCORTS(A PLACE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY ACCESSIBLE ONLY BY WATER AND ITS CONSTRUCTION WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A WELCOME DEVELOPMENT When you travel within this country, from one region to another, you will appreciate how large it is and the onerous task of leading it!!!! Development in the Niger Delta region would not have come so just by having a president from the region but would have been a continuous thing if the dividends of Nigeria's oil production had been duly paid to the area from inception and again properly utilized by governments in the region all this years. However GEJ could have started something and ensured that the right policies to sustain Niger Delta development were put in place especially with the arms struggle in the region. Instead the federal government glorified militancy through the period and never structured any strong sustainable policies towards development. |

Nigerian people can be as stupid as a donkey, pls what is wrong with this mode of transport? their are several communities in Europe and America with boats as their mode of transport, people should pls go grow some more brain cells so they can reason properly, the terrain makes it difficult to build bridges here, its too long and will be very expensive, little kids that have not left their lagos before are the very people talking about places they don't even have money to take a trip to. 2 Likes |

Re: How Southern Ijaw People Transport Their Luggage In Bayelsa (pics) by obailala(m): 3:22pm On Jan 07, 2017 |
Fremancipation:The point being made here is that even the 13% which has accrued to the region for almost 2 decades has not been converted to any single form of development because of the useless leaders the region (and the nation at large) keeps producing. When the 50% or even 100% resource control eventually comes, it will even be clearer that the real problem is the sort of leaders in the region and not necessarily the lack of resources. Whilst the leaders cannot account for the 13% being received currently (except of course their personal private jets and opulent lifestyles), these same leaders conveniently deceive the mass of people that there isnt development because there isnt 100% resource control. Taking this very Bayelsa as a case study, this is one of the least populated states in the south which has barely 8 local governments and very few cities. The allocation to this small state dwarfs the allocation of most states in the country with far higher population, landmass and cities. But what do we have on ground after 18 years of democracy?... we have a state which cant even pay salaries and which has about the highest poverty indices in the south. Until the true cancerous cell (i.e. useless leadership) is identified and tackled, even with 150% resource control, the rich elite will keep becoming richer with more elegant jet lifestyles, the boys in the creeks will up the violence and get some more payouts but the poor law abiding ordinary citizens will keep getting poorer. |
