LAUTECH 7-month Closure, Nigerians Are Perturbed by Nairadean(m): 8:07pm On Jan 06, 2017
The necessity to employ the power of 'pen' in writing and exploit the strength of Media in its dissemination appears to be one of the left options for parents, students and members of Staff of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in order to awaken the Proprietors (Oyo State and State of Osun) of the institution from their 'slumbers' over the continued paralysis of academic and non-academic activities on their campuses for over seven (7) months.

Perhaps some of the allies of the two Governors will be online and coincidentally reading this piece. The Governors are very much aware that the continued closure of the institution will do more harm than good and we are compelled to either believe they are dealing with the matter or it's beyond their capability. Nevertheless we need to relentlessly intimate them on the negative intensity of their "silence" on student's career.

Delving into an open letter reportedly authored by Soun of Ogbomoso land, Oba (Dr.) Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade III, who revealed that as events have unfolded so far, "LAUTECH’s joint ownership is a monumental aberration and the so-called 'model,' has utterly fallen apart." He further stated that "it is evident the two proprietors, Oyo and Osun States, are tired of co-funding because of lots of intricate difficulties." We may deduce that the intricate difficulties are resulting into the delay in working out an amicable resolution with the striking workers.

Stalites and freshers are perturbed about the possibility of forfeiting a whole academic session if the crisis lingers for long.

Admission seekers are perturbed about when a new session will kick start for fresh application.

Final year students are perturbed about missing the mandatory National Youth Service Mobilizations for next batches.

The members of Staff and Students are perturbed about the slide in the rank of the university among its contenders home and abroad.

Parents are perturbed about the idleness and unstatic age of their offsprings as 7 months had been wasted.

Residents of Oyo and Osun are perturbed about the harsh effect it will pose on the states' economies.

Nigerians are also perturbed about the halt in producing technologically-skilled manpower for the nation and the world at large.

In essence, the Industrial action in the institution affects everyone and it's worrisome to see the government "staring" at the crisis without proffering sustainable solution on time before it's too late. We hope to have LAUTECH reopened as soon as possible.

And students will write UTME and pick that school.

Our leaders don't care about us.

Imagine a university closed for 7 months.
