Sarah Salviander, Ph.D., is a researcher in the Astronomy Department at the University of Texas at Austin. You can visit her UT research website here. She also a part-time assistant professor in the Physics Department at Southwestern University.

She has authored or co-authored almost 50 peer-reviewed articles on cosmology and astrophysics according to the SAO/NASA Astrophysics Data system.

She is a professional scientist and former atheist who became a Christian apologist after discovering that God, in fact, exists. Raised in a non-Christian home and with a background in mathematics in science, what caused this radical shift in her was the fine tuning and exquisite design that the universe exhibits.

This, combined with reading the works of other Christian physicists and theologies, gave her the realisation that God really does exist. Since then she has dedicated spare time to Christian apologetics work on her website where she bridges the 'gap' between science and faith.

If you read the story of the OP you will come to the conclusion that you don't have to be an atheist to be a scientist.
