I used to make 40% more than my wife. She now makes 40% more than me.

Despite making 28.6% less than her, I pay all the bills. Every single one. That's my contribution. Then I supplement with freelance work which works out to an extra 4 hours per day and when she gets her twice a year bonus, she demolishes my salary even after my 20-30 hr per week extra I do on freelance.

She pays for food, vacation, travel, furniture and miscellany. If I need to buy a gift, even for her, I use her money if I am short for the month. If she doesn't have cash in her wallet, she takes it from mine and vice versa.

Once or twice she had to help me pay my taxes. When I was making more than her, I helped her pay her credit card and all our insurance. When I lost my job, she paid for everything, including bills, for 2 years while I tried to get back on my feet.

She also is primary saver in the relationship as she has more than me.

We pay our mortgage 50/50 as auto deducts.

This is family money. She wins, you win. You win, she wins.

She isn't your enemy or competitor. She's your other half. As long as both are contributing, you should be seeing everything in terms of a family unit.
