Three Niger Delta Civil organization groups namely, the Niger Delta Security Watch organization of Nigeria, (NDSWON). The Ijaw Peoples Development Initiative (IPDI), the Foundation for Human Rights and Anti- Corruption Crusade (FHRACC) are up in arms against Governor Wike of Rivers State.

The groups are furious with the Governor over a Well-publicized statement he made giving his backing to a united, non negotiated and indivisible Nigeria. The Governor Wike made this remarks while on a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto on January 1, 2017 while in Sokoto state to felicitate with his counterpart Aminu Tambuwal during the wedding of his daughter.
