But it will only be available in China for $246. The first Nokia Android smartphone from the brand's new owner has finally arrived, but it comes with bad news for folks who want to try it out: It will only be available in China. Finnish company HMD Global, which acquired the rights to release Nokia-branded devices after Microsoft abandoned the venture, started by releasing dumb phones in 2016. The Nokia 6, however, is a legit LTE smartphone that runs Nougat out of the box. It has a 5.5-inch HD screen, 16MP rear and 8MB front cameras, is equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 430 processor and packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. https://www.engadget.com/2017/01/08/nokia-hmd-first-android-smartphone/ cc: mynd44, lalasticlala

Too little, too late. If the previous management had followed this direction instead of the ill-advised and ultimately ill-fated decision to adopt Windows Phone OS, perhaps Nokia would have retained its market leadership and would have avoided being displaced by Samsung. Then again, it's never too late to do the right thing. |
