On January 9th 1million youth March! On #reopenlautech! Breaking my silence @lautecholofofo By now, if you haven’t heard about the 1million youth match to Osun and Oyo state come January 9th then you either don’t watch the news or live under a rock. I am proud a Lautech Student who is continuously challenged to think critically about the world and in walking in wisdom to understand the intersection of politics, activism, and social change. Unlike all around the world where education is a right, in Nigeria education remains till date a privilege while the masses outside the ruling class are continuously tortured to believe they are getting educated while the ruling class steals more than enough to educate their wards in the Harvard, oxfords, Cambridge of this world. The educational standard here as dished out by the ruling class is the worst thing they have succeeded in doing to Nigerians and got away with it?No funding, No structure. While Schools talks everytime on paper and online adverts about wanting to produce civically engaged students. Even with the 4year torture disguised as education we still end up graduating with no academic impetus enough to get us a job thanks to all of the government's draconian policies there isn't even any Job out for us. Come January 9 We will occupy Oyo state and ask why ; Abiola Ajimobi who is a useless nuisance an emeritus if buffoonery was a course to be studied in the University turned our dilemma as Lautech students to one of the folklores he catches fun with at any instant the court of public opinion asks him on matters relating to the closure of Lautech. Like I said, I'm all for freedom of speech, expression, and association but I just think that in this day and age, we should be beyond the point where our rage fuels us to act. We can go to wherever place we wish to show our grievances yes we can, we live in a country that was created with a Constitution which affords us that right and come January 9 Nigerian students would all march in solidarity for the brute being perpetrated in Lautech which is a probable test run on other Nigerian Institutions. Let's Keep expressing ourselves, speaking out for what we believe in, and not turning ourselves to impulsive beggars as Ajimobi's recent charade of strings at town hall meetings; an avenue aimed at a constant flexing of how stupid power has made him to be said in quote *_“you don't demand from your Governor you beg”_* insisting that Lautech students cannot demand but rather beg for immediate opening of their campus. Yes I am disappointed in my alma mater’s decision to play with our lives. Why proficient and self-respecting academicians like the VC and members of the Senate, committees of Deans allowed themselves to become political puppets cleaning up the mess of Ogbeni and his compatriot from Oyo state helping them turn this university into a large sub-standard mall with degrees hanging on its shelves. Sorry If I did bore you with this Piece all I was trying to say is that I 110% stand with #reopenlautech even though it still beats my reasoning that some students could prefer to avoid the ramifications of protesting for what truly is their right. On a final note, I hope that come 2019 Nigerians would deem it fit to order a full mental check up on all about-to-be political office holders because some of them are indeed mad.
