If one goes through the pages of the dailies on Europe and America, one sees more of hope and future. It offers one an opportunity to read about achievements accomplished by different nations from these continents. These pages talk of the positive projects to be accomplished in the nearest future. In fact, one comes in contact with nations working together respectively as one, for their continuous national development. The citizens of such nations are proud of their countries. In Africa, what does it look like?

We Africans know very well that it is completely the opposite. Going through the pages of the dailies on Africa, the socio-political situations within, make one feel disgusted. It exposes one to hopelessness. For instance, on the Christmas day in Nigeria, 10 persons were killed in Southern Kaduna. That was the compliments of the season to the people of that area. Most likely, as it is normal in Nigeria, with this present political dispensation, neither the State Government nor the Federal Government made any statement regarding such abominable evil. It is normal for some Nigerians to go about killing other Nigerians. We all know the real situation of things right now in Congo. That is Nigeria or Congo and that is Africa.

In full view of this socio-political turmoil in Africa, it is unacceptable to many Africans that the continent is wasting away like this. Many Africans go to the dailies to pour out their anger. Expressing our anger on the papers is a welcome idea. But does it solve our problem? That is a very serious question which all of us need to answer.

Mostly you see in African journals, lamentations. We see African intellectuals engage on an academic battle on the pages of the journals. For instance, in Nigeria, we come across blames and counter blames. We see accusations and counter accusations. It is not new that one ethnic group accuses the other for the woes of the country. We see people from the same ethnic group accusing each another on the pages of the dailies or any other social media. We see one political party accusing the other. At last, what have we achieved? In reality, nothing! Those discussions remain on the pages of the journals and the situation keeps on getting worse. What shall we do to come out of this mess?

No more lamentations! The time we spend in accusing one another is a wasted time. If we apply half of the time we dedicate to counter accusations in thinking out solutions to our problems, we would have overcome the horrible situation in which we find ourselves. Let African intellectuals devote time to thinking out the solution to our many problems instead of wasting time lamenting and accusing one another. This blog has a road map it will lay out very soon aimed at coming out of this dark tunnel in which we find ourselves now. All and sundry are invited to make contributions including objective criticisms.
