The Ad hoc Committee on the crisis in Lagos State University (LASU), set up by the State House of Assembly has said that the removal of the institution’s Vice -Chancellor Prof. Lateef Hussain is not necessary. According to chairmam of the committee, Kolawole Taiwo, "we are convinced that our corrections would best serve the interest of the university, students and staff, that the removal being canvassed by the various unions is not necessary at this time". The committee recommended, among other things, that the VC should stop splitting contracts. "That due process must be followed in the appointment of academic and staff; the university management should remit the dues collected on behalf of the Students’ Union since 2005 till date without any further delay. "That the VC should stop being chairman at any investigating panel or committee set up by the institution on disciplinary matters; the VC should be advised to be cautious in releasing information to the press, for avoidance of misrepresentation. "That the VC is warned to take the resolution of this Honorable House very seriously henceforth; that the scholarship levy being collected as self-help scheme in the Agege campus be stopped forthwith and the sum collected be refunded’’.
