I hope his presence can bring about motivation and cost fear to opponent, which in turn work in our advantage. Even if is ten minutes on each match.

Please get Okocha's wife to do the job.
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by yarodin: 3:32pm On Nov 25, 2009
Need Okocha for what?  Instead of us to start looking for talents we are trying to find an easy way out.  What did Okocha do in the last world cups he played?   Why did he not play when our world cup aspirations looked impossible?  The Nigeria Football Authorities should make adequate arrangement for scouts to look for players both in the local and international scenes, I am sure out of the millions of Nigerians they should at least be able to find three good midfielders.  Maybe Okocha can be one of the scouts, but bringing him back would not solve anything.
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by ozenyen(m): 4:15pm On Nov 25, 2009
My people no doubt Jay jay was a great player while he was still active but re calling him is a capital NO.

was jay Jay not in our last team that didn't qualify for the world cup. in fact he was one of the reason we lost out in the last qualifiers because he did not show up for the away match against Angola.

What technical depth has jay jay got to include him as a technical assistant? being a great player does not necessarily mean u have the technical expertise of a coach. if you doubt it go and ask Maradona.

the problem with the current eagles are the fans!

we do not realize that football is a game that can be lost and won. we want to win always thereby putting the coaches under undue pressure.

it took westaholf almost four years to build the US 94 team that has become a reference point.
in the last four years i have lost count of the number of coaches that have handled the national team,

We need Rabiu Ibrahim in the team. He's younger and faster. We need a playmaker definately, Rabiu Ibrahim can fill in that space.
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by rickie4us(m): 4:21pm On Nov 25, 2009
do you want Okocha to be disgraced by bringing him back? with the kind of team we are planning to take to the world cup, I think we are going there to disgrace ourselves.
I am just going to watch the world cup (Nigeria's games) for entertainment sake
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by fuke(m): 4:28pm On Nov 25, 2009
No Way. Even as talented as he is, he was a wasteful player at his peak

He is old and out of action for long.

People should stop referring to Milla and Zindane. Those are footballers from different clime.

Rogge Milla came as substitute without any bitterness.  Okocha will not take that. He is not as disciplined.

Please leave him out. There must be a replacement among more than 150m Nigerians. The porblem is either

we have not looked hard enough or we pretend not to see them.

Your comments and replies are very stimulating and motivating,
Rabiu Ibrahim is good and would benefit from rubbing shoulders with some of the big boys, i fully support his being called up to struggle for a shirt just like any body else.
This is all we are asking for Jay Jay, and opportunity to come and train with the boys and if he is deemed good enough , be given a shirt.
I also support the likes of Azeez being called up to train and hustle for a shirt,
But lets not be distracted, its Jay Jay for South Africa 2010,
and remember , the url is:

blonker:

While you have all raised very valid points regarding his age and how he should not disgrace himself and so on and so forth, no one has brought up an alternative that makes any sense.

Meanwhile , the url remains:

We look forward to seeing you all on FaceBook. You could join just for the hell of it, even if you do not fully believe , even if you believe that he should join in an advisory capacity, what ever, because we are taking this to the end, the very end.

See you all there

How you trying to force us to join facebook page you created??

You said no one has come up with an alternative that makes any sense, uhmm, what you are suggesting don't makes sense either. With people like you still alive Nigeria will never go forward.

Why stop at Okocha? You might as well bring back Yekini, Amokachi, Finidi, Rufai, Odegbami and even Thunder Balogun.

Yeye people - the silly backward looking nature of our football has led to this sorry place.

Okocha should sit tight and enjoy his Guinness sponsorship in peace - the same Nigerians will insult him to death when the team crashes in SA.
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by Donkuro: 9:17pm On Nov 25, 2009
lets give this guy a chance again, if zizu can still play football then okocha, if fit and able to do it should be giving a chance.
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by megacity: 9:24pm On Nov 25, 2009
Nigeria still needs Jay Jay!
Nigeria's midfield has been empy without Jay Jay
Jay Jay can do for Nigeria in 2010 what Roger Miller did for Cameroun in 1990
Anyway Jay Jay in reality is actually younger than Kanu
Jay Jay, so good they named him twice

isnt okocha 50 yet?
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by yommyuk: 1:07am On Nov 26, 2009
why do We need Okocha when we have got KANU.
Kanu is still active in the top end football, has the experience, vision and probably scores or makes more goals.
Conclusively, Okocha served us well but it is time to let the sleeping giant rest sad
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by Basics007: 2:50am On Nov 26, 2009
I wont cast aspersions on one of the best players Nigeria has ever had though the manner he left us high and dry on the way to the last WC left a sour taste in my mouth. But @Poster I think the solution to the problem is for u to advocate for him to be included in the team to Angola 2010 ok? So if it turns out he's still any good,y not then call for his inclusion in the WC team proper, and c how many Nigerians will support u
Re: Jay Jay Okocha For 2010 World Cup by kawkab: 4:11am On Nov 26, 2009
Why are trying to bring in Okocha. The question we should all ask is - Would okocha solve our problem. When last did he play a competitive football match. Before he retired he hardly featured for the full 90 minutes for Hull City in any match.

we should not bring sentiment in a competition like the world cup. How can blonker talk of using the world cup as a send off match for Okocha, when other country are thinking of winning it. A valedictory match has already been played for him at the Warri Stadium last year. So while other countries are thinking of winning we are thinking of just going there and coming back.

Okocha is a good and great player but for now we don't need him as part of the team. This campaign is meaningless, Okocha was part of the problem in the Super Eagles. In 2006, how many of our qualifying matches did he play. Remember he choose the matches he wanted to play and abstaining from playing certain crucial matches like our away game in Luanda. So please lets concentrate on building a strong team and discovering other talented players

THE TRUTH:

WE CANNOT LEAVE OUT THE FACT THAT AN 'OKOCHA' IS STILL MISSING IN OUR SUPER EAGLES' SQUAD. I PERSONALLY MISS HIM IN OUR NATIONAL. IF HE IS TOO OLD, THEN, LET US GET A REPLACEMENT. IF NOT, OKOCHA MUST BE.

TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT.
