Tears In The Entertainment Industry - My Advice. by meksmewo: 4:01am On Jan 11, 2017 |
In this article i have chosen not to mention names so that it would not be seen as character assassination or a direct attempt at the reputation of anyone. I have great respect for every player of the Nigerian entertainment Industry. In recent times, it has been one sad news to the other within the Entertainment Industry from the Music Section to the Movie Section, with several actors and artists dying or being hospitalized for one terminal illness of the other. What is most painful is that in most cases they are unable to take care of their hospital bills. Stardom which is the state or status of being a very famous or talented act is usually associated with comfort, so it beats my imagination why many of them are unable to take care of their own needs when health issues arise. I provoked my thoughts in that direction. The terminal illness suffered by most of this artists range from Kidney Failure to Heart Diseases or even Cancer. In some of the cases good willing individuals have come up at the niche of time to save the situation by making donations, sometimes and in rare cases, Government officials take up responsibilities. However in most cases they are unable to pay for treatment and some even pass away. The trend is ugly. MY ADVICE TO THE ARTISTS: Some of these terminal illnesses are caused by bad habits, negative addictions and dirty lifestyles. Excessive consumption of Drugs and Alcohol, Keeping late nights at several parties and functions are some of the reasons why the health situation of these artists becomes bad. What makes it worse is that the expensive, high class and fake lifestyles many of them live which makes it almost impossible to have savings hence the poor financial state in times of emergency. I will like our artists to know that many of them are consciously or unconsciously role models to their fans. People look up to them. Nobody needs to fake a lifestyle to impress a fan base. It is important to point out that there are still very humble and reserved talented artists in Nigeria who have stable homes and successful private businesses. If the lifestyle of our artists is put in check, the social problems including health issues and family breakups will be reduced to the barest minimum. It is important to point out that these problems are not peculiar to the Nigerian Industry but what is worrisome is the unimaginable consistency in this sad occurrence. Also this does not mean that all the artist that have gone through the pains of this sicknesses of sad situation have not lived a good life, I am only sharing a passionate thought directed and bringing the ugly trend to it barest minimum. I advise my brothers and sisters who GOD has blessed with talents, not to allow it get to the head. Humility and Focus will keep the eyes on the crown with the right approach. Manage your wealth and keep a cool head. Eat and sleep well and do your best to keep a good home. MY ADVICE TO THE COLLECTIVE INDUSTRY – MUSIC AND MOVIE. I strongly recommend that all Entertainment Bodies including the AGN, PMAN, DGN, etc. sets up individual or a collective Foundation, one that will be regularly funded by member contributions and philanthropic donations. These will avail members in need of health care funding in times of eventuality. A health issue is not an anticipated problem and no one knows when it comes so to prepare ahead, having a fund ready for such cases will help them take care of such situations. It is sad when some of these artists in need begin to call out to the public for assistance and no reasonable amount is able to the raised. The reason is because people find it hard to believe that the required amount cannot come out of the Industry considering how much it is valued. I hope the content of my advice will not be taken wrongly but seen as a passionate move to help end the pains and tears in the Entertainment Industry. https://www.facebook.com/justthinkingwide/ Cc: lalastica |
