Is gender one of the job qualifications?

This issue bothers me. On many occasions i have seen situations where females dont gain employment because they are females. It breaks my heart that women have to pay for a crime they did not commit. Yes, because its now obvious that being female is a crime. I am embittered because it does not apply to getting jobs alone. It also occurs in SIWES application, even ordinary holiday clinical posting. Four months ago i went to a private hospital's administrator (a lady) to ask permission to carry out my holiday clinical experience in the hospital. She refused with an excuse that the radiology dept was filled up. I later got to know that i was rejected because i am female. I mean WTH. Now why would my fellow female behave like that?. I encountered this on many occasions while i was looking for a place to do my holiday clinical posting last four months.Does this happen to females alone or are males also involved?.
