2016 was a hell of a year for the automobile industry, having some cars selling more than they did in 2015 and some other brands selling lower than they did. Who will have imagined, "Mercedes Benz did not make the list".

Volkswagen: They climbed all the way from No. 3 position to the driver seat. Volkswagen with the help of Golf and polo sold 10,102,036 ( which is 11.1% of the market sales) of the global sale in 2016. They are also the makers of Skoda, Audi and Bentley.
Toyota: Formerly in the first position has moved a little bit down due to the Volkswagen dogged sales. Although Toyota produced the global top selling car ( Corolla). Toyota sold 10.9% of the total car sales in 2016 ( 9,947,416 cars).
Renault- Nissan: Formerly second, they sold 8,513,050 cars in 2016 which is 9.4% of the global sales of cars in 2016.
Hyundai- kia: The sold 8,175,871 (9% of global sales) cars in 2016.
General Motors: The makers of Opel, Vauxhall, Chevy, Buick, GMC and Cadillac found themselves in the fifth position selling 7,972,401 cars and 8.8% of global sales.
Ford: Ford sold a total of 6,295,636 cars which is 6.6% of global sales o cars in 2016.
Honda: Honda sold 4,906,685 cars which is 4.7% of the global sales of cars in 2016.
FCA: The makers of Dodge, Fiat, Chrysler, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Ram, Maserati and Abarth sold a total of 4,864,390 cars which is 2.5% of global car sales.
Peugeot: They sold 3,248,108 cars which is 3.1% of global car sales.
Suzuki: suzuki sold 2,855,573 cars in 2016.
