I ask once more

What use is its importance to Nigeria
Cos soon they will send troops to zimbabwe because mugabe refused to leave seat.

If you remember, the troops about to travel to Zambia virtually went to slumber when our own version of sit tight tyrant in the person of Abacha refused to go until some Indian Eves came to our rescue. Worse of all, no African country batted an eyelid. They all slept.

Total Gambia population is 1.9m.

That's 1/4 of Lagos population.

Jammeh is not supposed to be called a President.

He would have been regarded as a village in Nigeria.

Still wondering why he wants to die on something as little as this.

on the flip side

Is this not Territorial infringement of the sovereignty of another Country?

Maybe Buhari Tyranny done upgrade.

Hmm, na only buhari wan go there, do you know the meaning of 'ecowas' and the UN? For your mind you don insult buhari, shey? Clap for yourself.

a country that can not defeat an ordinary rag tag jihadist in sambisa forest, a country like Nigeria that can't even police it territory want to engage a fellow African country with equal military muscle .... dullard buhari must be high on something lately, maybe he have started smoking ijebu weed again , someone close to that clumsy old useless incompetent cowardice clown should tell him that a liter of kerosene is 500k in Nigeria ,for Christ sake he is our oyil minister , south Africa has the financial backing, full support of international allies like NATO , they are thrice richer and civilized than Nigeria, their military personnel are 1st class professional career military men, they produce their own ammunitions locally by themselves, but why are they not policing entire African continent? why do they care only about themselves ? dullard buhari should understand that we are no longer in 80s ,that there is due process. if he dare invade Gambia, their Army will not only make fun of our
ill-equipped soldiers, but there will be condemnation and fully international sanction on Nigeria, last I check Boko haram jihadist are reclaiming territory we need more soldiers in Bornu state than Gambia,

You are not informed and the proposition you make is without any substances what so ever.

In reality Ill equipped or not the Nigerian Armed Forces will over run Gambia in 48 hrs and have Jammeh in chains in less than 24hr, if all restraint is removed.

The Gambian army has barely 1000 combatants in addition they have zero battle experience. They have no airforce not one fighter aircraft or attack helicopter.

The Nigerian military budget exceeds the combined budgets of all the countries in West Africa. However, what is done with that budget is another matter.

It will take barely 48 hrs to take a landing ship RoRo with hundred armoured vehicles to Banjul . Unfortunately the NA does not have a definite IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle) a complete shame. However, inspite of our stupendous shortcomings the NA is still no match for any country in the whole of West Africa.

South Sudan rejected Nigerian peace keepers, as it would restrict the expansionism policy and self serving desires of the current president, who is barely educated.

With regards to Boko they are essentially for all intents and purposes technically defeated.

However, defeating an ideology that I'll informed and fanatical Islamists buy into is another matter entirely. Acting in small groups or as long ranger individuals to blow themselves up and others with them, is very hard to stop completely

They are fighting essentially a gorilla war of hit and run, I will not even call it an Insurgency as they lack any real local support.

What is causing casualties and limiting the impact of the Nigerian armed forces is one thing corruption that has caused the infrastructure to be inadequate.

I would advise you update your knowledge base.

You seem not to understand the implications of a terrorist agenda backed by a fundamentalist ideology where killing yourself is considered aspirational.

Please read my post and digest and consider then criticise from a standpoint of knowledge not beer parlour hearsay.

Nigerian lives will be lost in the war. Our finances will be involved. Economic recovery will be delayed. Diplomatic distractions will occur, and many more negatives including ones we cannot envisage at the moment.

International politics of the West African sub region requires that we have a major involvement.

The option of sitting back and saying " Whaaaaten concern me " does not exist. When there is anarchy opportunists take advantage. That means Jammeh in his self seeking desire to remain in power can plunge that country into civil war.

This in turn will give room to a host of Islamic fundamentalists and terrorists to fill the power vacum. This in turn will give Boko and it's associated friends a staging post to attack us from.

I am disappointed by now we should have at least Battalion of heavily well armed soldiers in Gambia ensuring that the peace will be upheld. That will be a deterrent to the excesses of a despotic and delusional leader, Jammeh.

If the west had intervened when they could, into Syria ISIS would not have been birthed and Syria's Assad would not have had the opportunity to butcher his own people in there millions like he has done.

The whole region would not be so destabilised and turned into a free for all battlefield.

This right here is one sensible fella. You have sure set yourself apart from a lot of the ignorant ones here who kept saying all the 'wetin concine' am things.

I'm impressed by your understanding of intentional politics. However one place you had it a bit off was the ISIS thing. ISIS was created by the actions of Obama and Hillary when the induced an uprising in Libya when in fact it wasn't a popular uprising just to oust brother Al-Qathafi just to steal Libyan oil. Their invasion was disguised in the then atmosphere of Arab spring which in truth wasn't going to happen in Libya. When Al-Qathafi was killed, a vacuum was created in Libya that's when ISIS started taking shape and they became prononced during the Syrian crisis. But that being said, you are spot on with the Jammeh issue. And people fail to realise that this isn't on Buahri's own authority but his actions are on ECOWAS' authority and he's not the sole actor in this matter. Other nations such as Senegal, Liberia, Mali and Ghana (represented by its immediate past president) are also involved.

You were concerned that troops were not raised earlier? But Senegal raised troops three weeks ago and they have been stationed at the Gambian border for days now. In fact some battalion are already in The Gambia waiting for the command to proceed to the Presidential villa. Nigeria is just contributing troops to help the process.

I also know that at the behest of Former President Mahama, Ghana's new President Akufo-Addo would send in Ghanaian troops to join the intervention and Jammeh would be smoked out like a rat.

I am hoping that Jammeh will take this last minute offer he's being given or else he would be disgracefully ousted.
