wow great woman. to find such a great mind again will take atleast 50years, if the present situation continues. people these days hardly read a book. many peeps now find it more convenient to glue their eyes on the computer screen, where there is limitless distractions and reduced attention span. reading books to me still remains the best. |

OP, Admin and mods are intellectually challenged. I posted the correct report with YouTube video by Google earlier in the morning. But the mods did not forward it to the front page, until another poster copied and posted this report that is giving the impression that Flora Nwapa is still in the present tense. Google is celebrating her 86th birthday as a memorial tribute. Nigeria has really contributed greatly to women literature. Talk of great women writers like Flora Nwapa, Zaynab Alkali (the first woman writer from Northern Nigeria), Buchi Emecheta, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Lola Shoneyin and many others. This country is great. The problem remains corruption. 3 Likes |

now the question is WHERE ARE THOSE BOOKS NOW? Why are they not being published again? if her books can give birth to great writters like Chimamnda, imagine hw many more great writters dey can inspire. but nobody is asking about the whereabout of the books...typical of youths these days. we like celebrating past great leaders...bragging about how dey com from so so tribe without wanting to walk in dier footsteps. |

If google didn't celebrate her I would have never heard of this woman or her works. It's sad when we don't celebrate ours. it takes foreigners to tell us our own history, culture. Our educators are failures. No brain to do any research except recycling the same things they were taught. God bless her... hopefully I'll get to read some of her books. |
