It'sa so sad that the 2003 hit song, “Where is the love?” by (now defunct) American hip-hop group, Black Eyed Peas, now makes more meaning than it did when it was first released.

“People killing, people dying, children hurt and you hear them crying”. We sang along the melodious and persuasive rythm but today we see these things happen on a daily basis. Tune in to the news channel, there’s a report of several people killed somewhere in the world.

The world as we know it has become a terror zone. My people in northern Nigeria live in constant fear, bombings- the order of the day. Violence, now a daily act in many parts of the world.

Little wonder, the hip-hop group had to do a come-back to make a plea for peace, love and unity through their influence.

Where is the love? A government makes promises they never fulfill. The masses are left in poor state- no constant electricity, no good roads, no equipped hospitals, no adequate water suppy, education on the high.

Where is the love?

Take a stand today, for peace, for unity, for love, love for humanity.

I think it's time the youths start making their way into government- youths with a burning passion and a will to see things change for the better.
