Re: New Photos Of Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, Gbaramatu Kingdom by diegwu01: 10:57am On Jan 15, 2017
13 billion and counting shocked shocked shocked
This is horrendous and a colossal failure.
How could this shrine be called a maritime University? cant be compared to any of Amaechi's model Primary Schools built for N200 million
The Niger Delta people should keep on shooting themselves in the foot.

Ask how much this cost

They'll tell you, 1 billion naira. Whereas this should not have cost more than 100 million naira with direct Labour.

The corruption hanged on this project is what Rotimi Amaechi kicked against and not siting the University at all.

Of course you are right... buh Fashola did the same jibiti with website and borehole ,and no bleeps were given....

Which kind of VC will stay in this haphazard unplanned and disorganized spare parts shops? As long as the people of Niger Delta will not call their leaders to seriousness, attention and responsibility, Nigeria will continue to live in crises. Any University in The Niger Delta should look better the university buildings in this picture below.

The mediocrity in the Nigerdelta is naesauting. Can this structure even function as a secondary school let alone a specialised university? It is more unfortunate to see people like the op hail this mockery of an effort after the huge amount disbursed and spent.

have you seen Ghana universities ? these buildings are even much compared to them. But Ghana educational system is better than Nigeria . It not about building is it about education

That university is a scam. Which one do we believe. this building is it a temporary one or permanent one. Calling ameachi name won't change the fact that the building is not up to standard. Model secondary sch eleme building is far batter than this building. Learn to comment without throwing Stone.
Thanks

What concerns Fashola with the subject at hand?

I do not understand why the defense of an allegation of corruption from PDP and its supporters is " somebody else was accused of corruption and the person has not been jailed". They should have even gone further back and say that Abiola was alleged to have stolen the money meant to provide communication infrastructure to Nigeria in 1976, and no bleeps was given

This looks more like an estate built by a middle class income earner. As a matter of fact, it wouldn't pass for an estate in certain locations in Nigeria.

Nothing about it bears any semblance to a university.

And some people keep gloating over it. It's no wonder they continually fall prey to politicians.

Who's to blame them anyway; they barely see any projects much less tell a worthwhile project apart from a rip-off.
if this building was presented as one of Daziani's multi bullion naira estate would you have classified it as a mere middle income earner estate!.

They should blow this instead of blowing the pipelines, then we will know they are fighting with the government
They're not BH who kill their people and destroy their properties. If they destroy these buildings Buhari will not say anything because these buildings cannot fund our budget, pipelines is what will draw government attention.

This is very nice, Amachi is a liar because just three buildings are enough for a university that has received several billions of naira from the looting past government. Dear O.P., I think you need brain surgery.

Why are we being Naive? The Money being put into this Maritime University should have been used to develop the Foremost & Prestigious Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron. Over the Years the School(MAN, Oron) has been yearning for Training Vessels, Better accommodation, Sea Time, etc & We are all here praising rubbish. Funniest thing both schools are located in the Niger-Delta. Ok since Billions have been sunk into the Okerenkoko project, Let's make this one an Annex. Those who have sense, let them understand.[color=#990000][/colorhttps://www.google.com/url?q=https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maritime_Academy_of_Nigeria&sa=U&ved=0ahUKEwid5pnSnMTRAhXCCsAKHcMBBhwQFghHMA4&sig2=A6hFh4fK5mDjCXZlzPM4cA&usg=AFQjCNHamoyKrL_-_JX5eluvNcSPO-HW2w

My brother for me the matter is not just a question of size but also of the evidence of invested funds. If your hard earned 13billion(mind you this is just the cost of the land) was put in developing a university and the contractor presents this to you as work done after about 3 years on site..... what would be your response?

Why do you people abhor the truth like a plague? Can't you see what is happening? My comment doesn't in any way mean that I'm supporting the destruction of pipelines, but I have to say the truth.

tho, ameachi should not have tried to stop this project but let's be honest, fg had to spend 13 billion naira to acquire just the land for this school, God knows how much dey spent for the building, is this really what we should be celebrating?
as for been a tribal bigot, goodluck Jonathan was worst, he refuse to commission the epz project because it was in an itsekiri land. but he cud spend billions on this thrash because it was in ijaw land. knowing fully well that the whole Nigeria would benefit from epz project.

Izon pikin, is that building shown in any way close to something worth the multiple billions spent on that project by Tompolo and the rest?.... Is this really worth celebrating as a university where we hear that seceral billions have been released for?... I hear N13billion was spent on the land alone. Ask yourself a honest question for once devoid of the clannish 'Buhari is my enemy' politics, between Tompolo and the person asking Tompolo to refund the money for this Uni, who is more of an enemy to the Niger Delta?
