Deltans are insisting that the federal government should be sincere with the development of the Niger Delta region

- They are of the view that the federal government cannot do only sight seeing but it must act based on what it has seen through the Vice President

- They also say the president must act now so that the youths do no longer get agitated over long waiting

Former Delta central senator, Chief Ighoyota Amori, has said that the visit of Vice President Yemi Osibanjo to Delta was great but the federal government must treat the issue of the Niger Delta with all sense of sincerity and honesty

Amori, who is a big time supporter of Chief James Onanefe Ibori, former governor of Delta state, said the federal government must not politicize the issue of the Niger Delta as the development of the region has been long overdue.

According to him: “The visit of the Vice President is good as long as it is meant to address the lingering Niger Delta crisis and underdevelopment of the region.

“There should be sincerity of purpose on the part of the federal government and never politicize the development of the region”.

Also, an aide to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, Ossai Ovie Success, said the Vice President has seen things for himself and he has no doubt that the federal government would act based on the feedback from the Vice President.

He said based on what the Vice President saw on ground in Delta, he must have seen that the people of the state are peace loving but crave for justice, equity and fairness, adding that: “it is now left for the federal government to start working on the needs of our people, there is no time, delay may bring more agitation”.
