It's not really abut Jonathan but about Nigeria. Would a military incursion be taken if a Nigerian president refuses to step down? Like, who will dare? Are they trying to take down Jammeh because they geel that "The Gambia" is a very small country? What possible scenarios would have played out if Jonathan had towed the path of Yahya Jammeh for example.

The UN would have removed him. At the time of the election, A US warship was stationed in Ghana.
If violence broke out, they would intervene just like they did in Libya.

Does it imply that a Nigerian President is too powerful for a coalition of African countries to remove?

Affirmative. The truth is that Nigeria is quite huge and respected among other African countries, particularly West African countries. For so many reasons, ranging from diplomatic, political and commercial ties, no African country would have meddled in Nigeria's issue had Jonathan failed to step down.

Nigeria would have required the likes of the United Nations, a special intervention from the United States and Britain to quell the fire. Quite sad, but the truth stands, Nigerian President's are considered powerful even if everyone pretends to act like it's a coalition of West African states and their presidents.

Such move would have prolly resulted in a civil war. And none of the stunt that Ecowas is currently pulling over a relatively much much smaller Gambia would ever fly with Nigeria, dem no fit try am. The best the international community would have done would be to mediate for a peaceful resolution to whatever the crises may be.

Sort of. We are too big for Africa. No country would want to spearhead such efforts because reprisal would be deadly.

Yes. You don't seem to know how powerful the Nigerian President is.
It will only take a civil war or help from UN to remove him.

An sure the AFRICAN Union would have championed the military movement against Nigeria if this kind of thing happens. As for the Western countries, they do not have the right to invade any African country except with permission from the A.U.

If you know how international countries like America and UK prepared against such happening, troops were at standby in some neighboring countries. Am sure Jona boy was much aware and so did not follow the advice of his kinsmen

By now he would have either been Gbagbo-ed or Gaddafi-ed or Taylor-ed or Samuel Doe-ed.

It would have been his choice to pick anyone he loves.
