Guys.. I just checked through the last year's thread and noted that mails were sent July 11th at about 3pm and expected resumption date was Oct 4th(refer to page 58 of 2016 thread) . Using this as a analytics tool. Mails are likely sent 2nd week of July or at most 3rd week. (I may not be certain about the particular date nor time buh this could be a reliable estimate).so prepare your mind henceforth.

We pray success for everybody but the bitter truth is that regret mails are still gonna be sent. However, it could either be a positive or negative feedback, let us brace up. PwC is not the end of the journey. Let's just prepare our minds for the worst while hoping for the best. Congrats to we all in advance!

You people sha finally made me do this permutation and combination. Although mails were sent July 11 last year, their interviews ended April 22. That means they waited for close to three months. Our set, interviews ended May 12, we are not up to two months on the waiting game. I am not implying anything, as I don't know how HR would calculate the waiting period this time. My point is that we all should go and chill. We might just be doing the wrong calculations.

lol...it is not a small permutation o.. Nice! going by this, it means last year waited exactly 80 days. 80days from last interview date is 31st July 2017. **chilling mode**

I'm very sorry, Larochelle. Didn't even check back all this while.

Okay. What he told me was lengthy. I can't say all here. He also told me that everything thing he said was probably also laced with sentiments, as it is almost impossible for someone to describe their experience without sentiments.

He has worked at three of the big four, KPMG, EY, and PWC. He has also worked in South Africa, Europe and US (Dallas).

Caveat: Nobody should bash me. This is not my opinion. I have not worked at any of the firms, as you well know. If any information displayed below is wrong or you feel is wrongly represented, please say so in a clear, concise and empirical manner. Attack the message, not the messenger.

Be that as it may, this was his analysis.

He judged them based on a number of factors (I hope I can remember all, O pọ gan)...

1. Partner to people ratio: KPMG has more partners. The ratio over the past few years is 2:3. At the moment KPMG has 10 plus partners than PWC. Although in his opinion, making partner is 'easier', for lack of a better word, than KPMG. KPMG people often complain about careers stalling at Director Level.

Somebody else told me that the time to make partner is 12-16 years in both firms. There maybe very few exceptional exceptions (case in point, Taiwo Oyedele) but those are usually the exceptions not the rule. Most of Taiwo Oyedele's mates made partner in that time frame.

Three people made partner at KPMG this year, six at PWC. It may be relevant info. It may be not.

Since both firms maintain a staff of 1000 plus. KPMG wins the partner-people ratio.

2. Switch: Both firms are the biggest in Nigeria. People switch jobs between the two but more people go in the direction of PWC. The number of people leaving kpmg for PWC is higher. PWC takes this one. Which leads to the next criteria:

3. Working conditions: While both firms overwork people (his opinion having worked outside the country), work conditions at PWC are slightly better. He was quick to add that, it also depends on unit. Both firms have specialisations they are known for. KPMG audit can be 'hell' and PWC (I've forgotten the name of the unit, there's F there) can also be hell.

PWC takes this one too as work-life balance seems to be marginally better. Flexibility of work is also practised more than in kPMG.

4. Connection to global network: His own criteria here was how frequently people are seconded to member firms to work. I must add both firms exist in the same form in terms of practice and relationship with mother-firm, contrary to what some people say.

It's a tie here. Both firms send people from time to time. He said those sent are usually from one Cadre. It's hard to see younger folks getting sent. You, er, wait your turn. He saw more in his time at PWC though, but he was a senior then.

Surprisingly, he said EY beats both firms at this. He said part of the (few) reasons people leave both firms for EY is the higher chance they have of travelling for trainings and secondment etc.

5. Pay: PWC pays more, full stop. Although he didn't make partner at both, it seems KPMG pays more at that level. Maybe the perks, maybe the allowances, he didn't say.

KPMG used to pay higher, a different tax system was implemented and voila. Also, they give lunch which PWC does not.

It's also good to note that both firms 'don't pay well'. Which leads to the next point

6. Staff turnover: Staff turnover is high in both firms. It's actually our blessing as it's the reason they employ so many every year.

At the beginning pay is good, until you hear how much your 'mate' in Shell or NB is collecting grin. That's usually the main reason for high staff turnover. But if you stick around, you'll enjoy in the long run, and that long run is actually much shorter than almost every Nigerian firm around.

When your mate is still SBO is Zenith, you are already a Manager or even Senior Manager. wink wink

Again, everything up there is not my opinion.

By the way, I know when mails will drop.

So, you finally got here. You were not online when I said I'm just a hopeful like you àbí. How do you expect me to know. PWC guys are professionals, they don't leak inside info. Farabale. grin
