Comparatively, tariff in 9ja is one of the cheapest I know of, but let the providers find a way to shoot first.

There are no guarantees there will be improvement in service even when they increase tariff.

MTN or Glo for example can't ask us to pay for non-existent service; not to mention increasing tariff.

The truth is most of the guys who bought the power firms didn't know what they were getting into. They thought it was going to be smooth sailing.

Another issue is selfishness. They (the power firms) can raise money by selling equity to capable companies.

Raising tariffs is the way out.

So now, Nigerians are the source of fund to provide electricity. You want to collect the money before providing the infrastructure. Rogues. Give value first. Go and raise your fund elsewhere and not from Nigerians

Same way Jo couldn't do much about OBJ's failed privatization of steel plants for 5 years. You think it is easy to renegotiate privatization deals right?

Honestly i support this. But first the government should make sure that every house hold have it's working meter. Then increase the tariff by about 500% from the amount that it is now. People will be forced then to use only the most important appiances like, low energy bold, lcd TV, and fan. You use iron, boiler, Ac only when you are super rich. This way, even 5000MV of energy will be enough for steady power and in turn the sector will generate excessive money because people pay like 500% higher than the energy used. This excess money generated can be used to build new power stations with ease.

But we are still facing the same shortages in PMS, Kerosine, Diesel, Elelctricity, after all the incessant increases in price/tariff for over 30years!
Well will it dawn on these Greedy thieves that "You dont solve all problems by just throwing MONEY at it"?

But we are all aware that the "Greedy Cabals" have bought and cornered all National Assets like the DISCOS, Oil Blocks, Steel Mills, Refineries, e.t.c for themselves so, by asking Govt to increase tariff/price, they are actually blackmailing Govt into making themselves richer.

Those NERC Board should be sacked and disbanded immediately if all they can tell us everytime, is to raise tariff.

Sometimes I wonder, what exactly is the mandate of NERC, regulating the power sector or colluding with the players to rip Nigerians off?

Increment in tarrif is not the solution, why not meter all consumers for starters?
