Reintroduction Of War Against Indecipline, A Misplaced Priority. by okoli100: 8:17pm On Jan 27, 2017
The war against indiscipline was introduced by General Buhari/idiagbon administration in the year 1984, the war was specifically targeted at tackling anti-social behaviors such as indiscipline ranging corruption, indecent dressing to lack of environmental sanitation .The Nigeria government realized that many things weren’t done right and saw the need to introduce a strategy that will instill discipline into the society. During that era people were force to do things right, workers began to show up in time, orderliness was maintained in public places, dressing was very modest, corruption was minimum, the environment were kept very neat because people now take complete responsibility for their waste and hawking of goods in the street was banned.
The war against indiscipline focused mainly on five major areas which are;
· Queuing (March 20th ,1984)
· Work ethics(May 1st , 1984)
· Nationalism and patriotism (August 2nd 1985)
· Anticorruption and economic sabotage (May 29th 1985)
That era was characterized by intimidation, harassment, people were treated like animals. There was nothing like human right because nobody has time to respect right, democracy was equally not part of the administration because everything was done forcefully and under the full control of the military.
The mark of a superior leader is the ability to evaluate a situation, see the challenges, set goals and work towards achieving those goals in order of their importance, Nigeria for instance is a country characterized by lots of challenges ranging from poverty, unemployment , hunger, poor health, poor infrastructure and deteriorating educational sector to mention a few; The common man in the street thinks more about his survival, which has lead to lots of social vice and corrupt practices all in the name of surviving in a country full of abundance , the government as an entity is saddled with the responsibility of ensuring that the wellbeing its citizen is guaranteed.
The administration of PMB has promised Nigerians its commitment towards ensuring a better life and society if voted into power during the 2015 presidential election. The fact is that the massage of the APC was well received by Nigerians which led to their victory in the 2015 election; now is time to fulfill those campaign promises.
Priority still remains a fundamental part of governance no matter how we try to paint or run away from it. This administration has lost it all, their action and policies are all pointing towards the opposite direction, Nigeria has truly fallen apart, sometimes am always pushed to ask thought provoking questions like how did we get here in the first place? Who were those that lead us into all this mess? Is this the Nigeria I use to know during the administration of GEJ? The glory of our great country has totally been lost, Nigerians are crying bitterly about the state of things in the country, and even our children are feeling the impact of the troubled state of Nigeria.

The war against boko haram is a very important one, because as it involves life and property; the government is saddle with the responsibility of providing adequate security for its citizen. The government under the administration of president Muhammadu Buhari came out to tell the world that it has technically defeated boko haram but with the continuous invasion of different community in the south east you will agree with me that the reverse is truly the case in this scenario, series of videos has equally being release by the sect. According to a report by Médecins Sans Frontières finds ‘catastrophic humanitarian emergency’ at Bama camp for people fleeing Boko Haram. This very report shows that over 1200 people have died of starvation and illness at the aid camp, over 800 children were found malnourished and almost 500 have died as a result, during assement MSF counted about 1233 graves for the past year, more than 15000 people have being so far killed and 2000000 displaced in Nigeria and neighboring countries like Cameroon, Chad, Niger during the boko haram seven years of operation. from the above figures and facts by MFS you can see how important the fight against book haram is and why the government need to step up and fight this sect to finish. there is equally need for the government to work on its strategies, evaluate the methods used by the past administration and why its not working out, international consultation is equally important, the military should be equipped with sophisticated weapons and training should not be left out because terrorism cannot be countered with obsolete methods.

The war against hunger is another area the federal government should look into because people can do anything both legal and illegal to have their stomach satisfied. The definition of hunger is relative to cultures,individuals and environment;
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary hunger is define as “a craving or urgent need for food or a specific nutrient or an uneasy sensation occasioned by the lack of food or a weakened condition brought about by prolonged lack of food”. Hunger can also be described as a want for other things apart from food. Hunger exist in different forms which are mainly Physical hunger: This is the type of hunger associated with when your body needs food or fuel to function, Emotional hunger: This is the type of feeling you get when your brain (emotion) is making you want something so much that the control is limited, Sensory hunger: This type of hunger is associated with needs expected when external sights, sounds, smells, or tastes are controlling the direction. In Nigeria the rate of hunger is seriously a challenging issues statistically 60% of children, 30% women and 10% men suffering from this epidemic called hunger. Then majors causes of hunger are Conflict and war ,Inequitable distribution of food, Lack of access to education ,Lack of access to basic resources ,Trade policies ,Ethnic and religious discrimination ,Cultural beliefs ,Politics (Corruption),Immigration (From the rural to urban cities) ,Oil greed (White collar jobs) ,Oil excavation towards agricultural disasters ,Natural Disasters ,Lack of good education. The major indicators of hunger are very visible in the countenance of many Nigeria today; hunger can easily be identified in people through the following ways increased CRIME.,SICKNESS.,UNPRODUCTIVITY,CHRONIC MALNOURISHMENT – ,REDUCTION IN SCHOOL ATTENDANCE AND LEARNING,REDUCED MATERNAL AND INFANT MORTALITY ,UNREST BECAUSE OF FIGHT FOR AVAILABLE FOOD.

The war against unemployment is anther vital area the fedral govertment needs to effectively work on as a matter of urgency, The Nigerian Bureau of Statistics (NBS) says another 1.5 million Nigerians became unemployed in the first quarter of 2016. In its unemployment and underemployment report released on Friday, NBS said the country's unemployment rate grew from 10.4 percent in the last quarter in 2015 to 12.1 percent, many youth today are no longer intrsted in going to school because the popular belief is that school is no longer a guarantee for a successful life . there are many graduates roaming about in the street today looking for white collar jobs, the high rate of unemployment has caused many havoc in the society criminal activities is on the raise, social vices, many youths who wprking are currently engaged in job that are below their qualification.

Bad and inconsistency business policies; the Nigeria business world has suffered a serious setback , the government,the kind of Bussiness policies its woking with is totally obsolete and disastrous for the survival of business in Nigeria. The Nigeria stock market has really lost about N1.732tn in one year under this administration, many stocks are becoming worthless, business are closing down due to unfavourable policies which has contributed to the high rate of downsizing . Nigeria under the administration of GEJ was a fertile ground for investement, international investors were coming into Nigeria for their business establishment which lead to the bumper growth of nigerias GDP and mad us the unmber economy in Africa. Today the economy has entered recession because of incompentence and lack of healthy policies for investment growth. The ban of forex is anther disaster to the econonmy. The inflation rate is high; the prices of commodity presently are very high which is making it difficult for many consumers to purchase what they really need.

Poor health care and infrastructure in more concentrated in the rural area, which are suppose to be the main target of the ferdral government. The rural area has suffer series of neglect from the government. The health sector in this area are nothing to write about in most pulic hospital, there are insufficient drugs for the patient, the unmber of qualified medical personnel are very few,the machines used are either obsolete or non functional, the road network are so poor, security is not even guarantee in most government hospitals.

Finally the govertment should understand that the war against indecipline can not make a sick, hungry,insecuried ,unemployed and frustrated person walking on the street to act right. It's important for the government to study the need of the Nigeria people and take effective action toward settling them rather than introducing things that are not necessary.

Greed and unrighteousness is the problem of this country. The people are their own worst enemy.
