Kodus to some Nigerian Universities who have recently frowned at plagiarism at even undergraduate level. Before I flow far, let me expose here to someone what plagiarism means. Simply, it the act or practise of using someone else's ideas, publication, any form of write ups and productions patterns without permission, proper referencing or in a way that positioned the thoughts as if it was originally produced.

In academics, there are rules. There are ways research and assignment are genuinely done. But, it is not a common practice in most higher institutions to place high premium on plagiarism, as assignments are done any how with no attached punishments.

I 've been involved in several research studies both in local (Nigeria) and international (US,UK) spheres. The difference is clear!

Please do know that, plagiarism is well frowned at also in Nigeria, but, the "intensity" is still low. It is way easier to scale through ten researchs in Nigeria than one in UK or US. We need a scale up. I submitted a work to a UK org and it was returned for having a plagiarism (duplicate) level of 32%, that only 20% was allowed. I felt bad, but had to do the needful.

In Nigeria, plagiarism is encouraged by many factors which include; the idea of someone wanting to get certificate at all cost, corruption in the academics, the ways lecturers are produced, the idea of forcing a research study on a student, poor political and economic systems, and lack of adoption of necessary checker softwares.

Why should we have a student with an assignment downloaded from internet and marked with an award of 9/10, without such assignment passing through a checker-plagiarism detector. That's very bad.

Please, donot expect anything different from poor economic performance because, some of our leaders are products of "Copy and Paste". The culture of originality is zero!! Creative and critical thinking is non-existing.Take a scenario of a situatution in which it becomes a practice to imbibe the concept of "back to sender"- Graduates from Nigeria higher institutions are familiar with this phrase. Except for few courses and lecturers, you can easily have "As or Bs" by "la cram, la pour". Nigerian students also understand this.

Research study is the only way a student could come up with his own idea, develop it and present it in an uderstandable way for nation building (significance) as guided by a supervisor. But the way academic loads are placed on students and time frame for exams and submission of research works is alarmingly choking and terrible especially at undergraduate level. Though better at postgraduate levels.

There are ways to avoid plagiarism. They are simple if one is serious, well trained and technical! However, they could be tasking and hard if one is lazy. It is saddened to reveal here that from experinece, some lecturers themselves are not farmiliar with techniques of plagiarism prevention. In fact, some don't know. Yes!

Please do know that, you may not be able to completely avoid the use of someone's ideas, thoughts or materials, but, in such situations you must be sure that;
One, proper referencing is done,
Two, paraphrasing is technically and perfectly done and,
Three, quotations marks are properly employed.

As a way out, for the detection of plagiarism in any writeup, please use, "Turnitin", a software for duplicates detection, though this seemed to be very expensive to deploy. Other softwares are, "iThenticate" and other duplicate checker softwares. Remember you need good internet connection to get this done.

It is very possible to write and have zero plagiarism. Originality is the panacea!

Contact me if you are having any issue as regards plagiarism prevention.

Thanks for your time.

Coursework, just by hearing the name the student tends to imagine the amount of frustration and panic that comes along any such assigned work. Coursework writing is essential and designed to facilitate the students to strengthen their fundamentals notably. However, in case of any query or problem, the students are encouraged to take advantage of the coursework writing services and get the desired solution. If you are easily distracted or lack the concentration to focus, the academic session would become miserable and difficult to pass.
