The Nigerian military has broken its silence on the number of casualties in the January 17 Rann misfire, claiming that 112 persons died in the incident with 97 others injured.

The military, at a press briefing by the head of the counter-insurgency operations in the North-East, Maj. Gen. Lucky Irabor, said after the Rann airstrike accident, a coordinated emergency response was established for the rescue and treatment of the victims, while a surgical centre was equally set up.

He equally revealed that a board of inquiry was established by the Theatre Command to investigate the incident which proved that it was a mistake and that 112 persons died and 97 others were wounded in the incident. more details here http://www.asabametro.com/2017/02/112-died-97-injured-in-rann-bombing/#.WJPv3ThGSxg

This incidence happened two weeks ago, even if it is an accident the perpetrator should be charged with manslaughter, NGO'S operating at the camp and media both local and international told us 236 people died but the army general who ordered the massacre is saying 112 people were killed.

Even if it only a 1 person was killed in a sane country where human lives are valued the pilot and anyone involved including the general that ordered it should be suspended and detained in guard room or mess for proper investigation not giving press conferences

Why will anyone be arrested when even Buhari does not see the killing of 236 or 112 as they said as something, am saying this because Buhari last visited Borno during his election campaign when he needed their votes, when this carnage happened he sent an ordinary aide to commiserate with Borno state governor and everything was done at government house maiduguri, not at Rann where the barbaric act happened about 150km away.

Till today all the weapons the military are using were the ones bought by the last administration, Buhari has not bought any and at any given opportunity he says they stole the money for arms purchase yet he uses the weapon they bought.

The perpetrators of this bombing must be brought to book and prosecuted, the victims and their families must be compensated monetarily, this many not bring back the lost but can bring succor to the bereaved as bread winners may have been killed
