Prayer is the amazing line God has provided for direct access to His throne. D.L. Moody once said, “Next to the wonder of seeing my Savior will be, I think, the wonder that I made so little use of the power of prayer.” Truly, it is a resource we should avail ourselves of continually. Sometimes, however, we jam this line of communication and prohibit our prayers from being answered. Dr. John R. Rice often spoke of the hindrances to prayer. Below is a list of seven. 1. Personal known sin in the believer’s life “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18). 2. Strained relationships between husbands and wives “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Peter 3:7). 3. Unreconciled wrongs, debts, or offenses between Christian brothers and sisters. “Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee; Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift” (Matthew 5:23–24). 4. An unforgiving or bitter spirit “Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven” (Matthew 18:21– 22). “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you” (Ephesians 4:32). 5. The sin of covetousness “From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:1–3). 6. Neglect and indifference to the Word of God “He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination” (Proverbs 28:9). 7. Prayerlessness itself “Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way” (1 Samuel 12:23). How tragic it would be to allow any of these things to hinder our prayers from the answers our Heavenly Father delights to give.

DWIGHT L. MOODY SHOULD HAVE BEEN ASHAMED TO SAY THAT HE UNDERUSED PRAYER.

Evidently, he was not.

This was the man RESPONSIBLE for THE GREAT FIRE OF CHICAGO- he had a huge crowd "worked up to conviction," then told them to go home, and think about giving their life to Christ. That night Chicago burned.

Of course we have the benefit of hindsight, and I think it is unjust to say that we would have known better.

That was how he learned to demand instant conversion.

This has filled Churches with people who made an Uninformed Decision in a moment of weakness, and progressively found out that Christianity was not what they were told- but found themselves psychologically unable to leave the Churches System they had ignorantly joined.

Dr. John R. Rice often
spoke of the hindrances to prayer. Below is
a list of seven.

THE NAÏVETÉ OF THE SHALLOW CHRISTIAN HAS THEM TAKE FIR GRANTED THAT THE OYINBOS ARE SINCERE IN ALL OF THESE TEACHINGS.

They are NEVER.

YAHSHUA warned us about their type.

Just because they SAY the Right Things- neither am I saying that they do- that does not mean that they believe in them.

SIN IS THE TRANSGRESSION OF THE LAW.

The Law of God by Moses is 613 Commandments- all of which NEED to be fulfilled in us, for us to be SAVED.

But only ONE SIN is IMPORTANT; the rest are UNIMPORTANT.

WITHOUT OBEYING THE COMMANDMENT: CHOOSE LIFE, WE HAVE NOTHING.

We cannot LOVE GOD.

We cannot OBEY HIS VOICE.

We cannot CLEAVE UNTO HIM.

Whatever you may have been taught, that is not consistent with this, IS WRONG.

Whoever taught you, and did not teach you THIS was DECEIVING YOU: PERIOD.

2. Strained relationships between

THEY are NOT your GOD.

THEY are NOT your LORD.

IF YOU GAIN YAHSHUA, YOU FORFEIT EVERY RELATIONSHIP WITH ANYONE WHO DOES NOT HAVE YAHSHUA.

There is no way around that.

Whereas, if they do have Yahshua, and you have Yahshua, his can your Relationship have any Problem?

TRUE CHRISTIANS IMMEDIATELY APPRISE THEIR SUPPOSED BRETHREN THAT THEY ARE VIOLATING YAHSHUA'S TEACHINGS. IF THEY REFUSE CORRECTION, THEY ARE TO BE ESTEEMED OUTSIDERS.

FALSE CHRISTIAN LEADERS do not enforce this Protocol, because THEY WANT False Christians in their Churches, to help CHOKE OUT any True Christians that might sprout.

4. An unforgiving or bitter spirit

WHY WOULD THIS HYPOCRITE CAPITALIZE ON THIS ONE SIN, TO THE EXCLUSION OF THE OTHER 612?

If one is going to say that breaking one of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS is ONE hindrance to Prayer, are we trying to say that breaking the other 612 Commandments are NOT hindrances?

This shows that DOCTOR RICE was NOT SINCERE with his POINT (1) above, because that makes this one redundant.

6. Neglect and indifference to the Word
of God
“He that turneth away his ear from
hearing the law, even his prayer shall
be abomination” (Proverbs 28:9).

AGAIN: HYPOCRITES ONLY MEAN TURNING AWAY ONE'S EAR FROM THE SCRIPTURES THAT THEY WANT TO HEAR.

7. Prayerlessness itself
“Moreover as for me, God forbid that I
should sin against the LORD in ceasing
to pray for you: but I will teach you the
good and the right way” (1 Samuel
12:23).

The point here would be to tie up the supposed Christian with useless and worthless GUILT-INDUCED PRAYING for people WRONGLY- because one's whole CHRISTIAN PROFESSION is WITHOUT FOUNDATION.

If you CAN Pray properly, you WILL Pray properly.

Lack of Praying is hardly possible to be a Problem!

How tragic it would be to allow any of these
things to hinder our prayers from the
answers our Heavenly Father delights to
give.

When these people talk about "Receiving Answers to their Prayers from their Heavenly Father," we should consider what was going on in their countries at that time, that their "ANSWERED PRAYERS" did not solve.
