A friend once said in Ajegunle,if u have 1 room,u are a king,
reason being,there are some ppl that lives in a room with 8 to 10 occupants.

Odd way of life!

I wonder why you all are acting surprised.
You need to visit naija every now and then and explore areas beyond your normal sphere,
(we know you all live in VGC, Ikoyi and VI only) grin ,  go outside those places and you'll realise
most Naija men see no big deal in keeping several wives under one roof.

4 my part, i blame d women, what kind of a woman wud stay in one room wit her husband, another wife and children. She must be insane. Women shud learn to be independent 2, not always relying on their husbands. gush.

The only Language Nigerians understand is go to school, get a job,get married and manufacture children if or if you don't have the means to carter for them (God will provide)
It is a crime not to be married in Nigeria not to talk of not having children. So every woman wants to be married and have children, they simple don't care how.
Thats the reason why.
Once a lady is above 30yrs, she becomes desperate and apprehensive with respect to marital issues. It's only few Nigerians ladies that have other life goals apart from Marriage. The rest, after school job or no job they want a man. After 40 yrs, any available male =husband.

Now, back to my diary. Well, I discovered that most of the things we call comedy in Nigeria movies are serious issues that must be tackled. They are real!

Iya Funke, my friend lives opposite the house of a man who has a room, two wives and fours children. I didn’t believe her until one evening when the two wives started fighting over who ate the bread on the table. People tried to settle the misunderstanding. I was shocked when the first wife started abusing her husband and the second wife, saying that she has been the one feeding the family for sometime.

The man is a commercial motorcyclist by profession (Okada rider) while the first wife is a petty trader, the second wife is a full time house wife. I was shocked to the marrows of my body when I learnt that the guy actually has two wives in one room. I even thought he had three children until I discovered that they are four children.I only see things like these in Nollywood movies until I saw it live!!!

“What manner of man is this”, I asked myself rhetorically. On my way home, I kept asking myself different questions, most of which I have not found an answer till date. Does this kind of thing still happen in this age and time? How do they have sex when the children are also there in the room? When he is having sex with the first wife under the watchful eyes of the second wife, what is her reaction?(At least,there would be no way they would be having sex that the other person won't know)


How will the man meet up with his responsibilities of taking care of the children with the meager sum he makes from his commercial motorcycle? What kind of children would come out of that kind of marriage? Is the man not ashamed at all? (I even saw him recently)…why are the two women so blind in love (or lust) that made the two women agree to stay in the one room with him?i mean, what manner of a man is this!


This is not an unusual situation in Nigeria and I can't understand why people here (Nigerians) in this thread are acting like it is. There was time when I was in Nigeria and went to visit an Uncle who lived in Mushin with his family. This man had two wives and I counted about ten children aged between 18 down to 1 years old, all in one room but I was sure there was more.
In that one room there was a tall fridge, double bed, a full suite of chairs with a table and more chairs, TV and video, and a music centre complete with big speakers. In short, the room was fully furnished, over furnished in my opinion and I couldn't for the life of me figure out where everyone slept at night with all that big furniture in the way.

My Uncle (RIP) was unemployed at the time and his wife sold palm oil for a living. The second wife had already ran off to 'do business' but had left her toddler kids with her husband.

Their household and family set up was not unusual in the compound they lived in as there were plenty of families like theirs.

I repeat there is no game when it obviously shows the women just want to have a husband. It's their type that think having a husband is everything. The man can only prey on the women at his level. He should go and use that same 'game' on high class babes, let me see how far he would go as an okada rider to woo these type of girls. Sex can be taken care of during the day wen the kids av gone to school. It could be a 3some or he sends the other wife on a wild goose chase, That is no problem. On campus you have sex even when your roommates are around, all u need is wrappers.

The funniest thing about this situation is that the guy mite not av planned for this, the 2nd wife mite av been a mistress, she got pregnant and because of this Nigerian/Africa tradition that frowns on the term single mother, she moves in wiv the guy and his wife.

Women are very desperate now-a-days, I know of a guy living in a one room wiv his wife and 2 kids, the guy is an handy man but is always paying for short time in hotels to bang girls working in white collar jobs, the gals know he is married but will still sleep wiv him, they all say they dont need his money, they can take care of themselves. If I did not know this guy, I would have thut he uses jazz on the gals.
I think our generation need to teach our daughters to have self esteem, be satisfied wiv wateva they have and not to take getting married as a do or die affair.

You see, you're treated the way you want to be treated, that's why the man is doing what he likes because, he knows your sisters would put up with it. 

As you can see, the women in question are eating his sh-t and saying thank you for it hence, their constant fighting and killing each other for a 'nobody's husband'.  Call it arrogance if you like, yes I am arrogant.  Attitude, as well?  I have that too because, I dislike women who continues to make it easy for men to trample on us this way, by making themselves available and easy to be used and abused by men.

Imagine the level of abuses both women and children are suffering.  Imagine, a man emotionally abusing his own children for his own selfish gains - two wives.  When these children grew up and become "armed robbers, prostitutes, rapist and paedophiles" and we start blaming and asking 'where did they learn that?'  Because, children learn what they see!

To women, until you wean yourselves off this idea of husband searching and a ring in my 3rd finger at all cost but instead, protect yourselves with a shield of independent living, you'd remain in bondage for these men. But may I ask, who say'Thou Shalt Marry?'Is it compulsory Enough![/b]

They condition men at a younger age - bride price, owambe marriage and wedding party - if you try to reason with them they see you as stingy and not loving them enough. but at a later age that's when the desperation sets in.

Definitely, the first wife KNOWS without a doubt that her husband is shagging the first wife and vice versa. When and how each wife does it becomes their sole worry, not the husband or the 'enjoying' wife. cheesy If they want to step it up a notch, do a 3some and make the man a happy man.
