Thank you so much. I have gotten it.

MrsWoman, please help us since you have written the CSC exam.

The question remains "do I need to still buy the textbook (if I already have soft copies) to enrol for the exam"?

Iyamefa:

Okay, I actually don’t know yet. Just completed IFIC and gearing up to register for CSC but since I’m yet to do so, I might not be in the best place to advise.

God gracious! I'm desperately in need of the book . Infact, forget i ever typed pdf. lol

I'm not in Toronto, but it's not a hindrance biko. I'll pay for cost of courier to Nigeria (your terms - either pay before or after courier). When I come to Canada in September, I'll send back the book to you. No hassles at all biko.

Thanks alot in anticipation @RahmaMohammed.

Good evening fam, please for those who are/were in Lagos, are there any pre-arrival sessions we could attend? How often do they hold and where? Thanks.

Good day friends. Pls I posted this on the EE thread but got no responses. I guess someone here might have taken this option and could give me insights. Any help?

SolutionsGuy:
Pls, my CRS stands at 430 with the family but if I choose non-accompanying spouse, the CRS jumps to 447 (more like a sure ITA). Without back2back draws, I don't think cut off would come down to 430 any time soon. So I'm most likely going the route of unaccompanied applicant. My questions are:

1. Has anyone successfully got PR here with spouse non-accompanying.?
2. There are claims that the application would be delayed for this reason. Is it true?
3. Am I expected to pay the processing fees for the non accompanying dependants at this time?

I know that POF remains the same, and medicals and PCC are required of them as well. Thanks.

- Correct. But the only reason you should take this option is if your spouse is not a graduate, or she cannot max out on her IELTS (which she can work on) .

- If she evaluates her degree and writes IELTS she can significantly increase your points. Degree can fetch up to 10 additional points while IELTS can give +20. Infact if your spouse evaluates a bachelors and max out IELTS you would get 2-4points higher then if you had applied alone.

- I advice u to get your spouse to put in the work required else u can go alone and follow the brutal path to sponsorship 12months+ after you arrive. Plus you will raise POF for the whole family irrespective of weather u apply alone.

Cheers

Hi,

i don't think they have the option of paying for the exam alone, according to this link: https://www.csi.ca/student/en_ca/courses/csi/csc_enrol.xhtml
you will have to pay for at least the online textbook to enrol.

Is there anyone who submitted their passport to VFS Lekki on 22nd May or that week that has received their passport and COPR back?
This is 21 days no update and I initially thought it is a 14 day process.

Hey guys, I'm in the process of applying for PR. Please lawyers currently living/practicing in Canada I need your input and anyone else with this info.
- What city are you currently living in
- What has been your experience with evaluating your results with NCA and writing the exams in the city you are in
- Which cities are 'more favorable' to practice in whether as a barrister or solicitor
- What kind of jobs are available before the call to bar e.g legal research etc
- Any info that will be useful to me in preparing to make this big move I'll appreciate

I submitted mine on the 23rd of May, however the status on VFS tracking says it is being processed. The visa was approved as seen on my cic account on the the 8th of June.

I only wonder what is taking VFS so long to send me a pickup mail.

Anyways i would be waiting, preparing meanwhile for life in Canada.

Hey Counsel, I’m also interested in whatever responses you’ll get here, lol.

Anyways, you should get a paid articling position (which in itself seems to be a sine qua non for bar admission) with a law office or the legal department of an agency. There’s a catch here though: you have to be in the actual process of getting “barred” before you can land an articling position.

Ontario may be your best option because of the high number of law offices there as compared to other provinces.

These are my personal opinion and they are subject to any superior, overriding knowledge!

Hey Guys,

Pls has anyone here processed security clearance ( reliability status)? Especially for people in Ottawa. How did you go about getting the Nigerian police certificate of Good conduct?

Anyone with information on this should please respond.
Much appreciated.

Please I have a problem. Long story short.
I just noticed that the name on my international passport and driver's license, spelt "Michael" is different from what I have on my academic record "Micheal". What do I need to do?
Note, I've not yet applied.

Hi, you will have to formally adopt her, get the court papers to prove this then add her to your application like any other family member. Once she crosses 21 years of age, she will have to apply on her own and cannot come as your dependent.

Age of Adoptive Child: According to Nigerian law, a child must be below the age of 16 (according to the Adoption Act of 1965) or 17 (according to the Child Rights Law) in order to be adopted. The specific law governing the adoption will depend on the jurisdiction in which the adoption takes place.

Adoption is out of it in this case.

I believe its your family that will nominate you, a proof of relationship has to be produced and DNA tests might be conducted.
Where an anomaly is observed, the person ( and his family) who nominated you might get in dip shit cos of you.
The issue now is ........how much can u possibly drop for a person to risk his permanent residence because of you..

BROS . . .. . . . . LOOK FOR A LEGIT MEANS AND DON'T ANNOUNCE ON A PUBLIC FORUM THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO PARTICIPATE IN ILLEGALITY AND MISREPRESENTATION.....

I thought friends could also nominate. You are right all the same. This is tantamount to misrepresentation which can put both parties at risk.
