I ask this pertinent question in direct comparison to the notion of Nigeria's very birth and existence.

Philosophers have pondered on the very essence of numbers and some school of thought are in agreement that humans discovered numbers while the opposing view holds that numbers have always existed since the creation of the universe making reference to the Planck era and constant - the smallest scale value of time itself!

Just like we humans never discovered fire since the universe is abundant with fire but only invented a means of creating fire at our will so also is the concept of numbers.

Numbers have always exited. It took human mental evolution to stumble on numbers. The only thing we humans ever invented in relation to numbers is the process of numbering which we can term measurement!

Bearing that in mind, can we honestly say Lugard discovered Nigeria? No. Nigeria as a place and people have existed long before Lugard but as a united entity defined as "one nigeria', Lugard has all right to claim the invention of modern day Nigeria.

In this respect it is thus conclusive to state that Lord Lugard should be the only refrence in the Nigerian anthem and not those phantom " founding fathers" and "hereos past".

Nothing is invented. Everything was discovered, then applied.

That's true to an extent when looking at abstract physics and theoretical mathematics as their governing principles can only work on paper as long as it exist somewhere in the universe.

But in human anthropology cultures, traditions and empires are all organic movements catalysed by human hands and ambitions.

The Roman empire is so named Roman because it was forged by the Romans - a sort of invention and not a discovery!

Was there ever a Nigerian enterprise spearheaded by Nigerians to unite Nigeria before 1914 under the principles that we define ourselves as Nigerians today?

Genetically we are all cousins, The similarities are so much more than the differences of we look deeply, but we take the minor, less important thing and exaggerate it and kill each other because of it, it's such a shame.

This is the truth, you are now free.
