Hello fellow nairalanders (sorry for any blunders)am confused and lost of decision to make. am a guy of 25 years and run a mini frozen foods store which I see about 15 to 20k every week also just rented another shop in a good area for  extension but been having this dream of travelling abroad I have an uncle that is married and had kids in UK but not FINCIAL STABLE  who said I can come will also help me find something to do but WARNED it might take time. So guys should I travel without no assured job or opened my second shop and continue my business.

bro your biz is bringing a steady income which makes you to go for extension.you are already making here but if your uncle can find something tangible for you over there I can tell you that oversea is much better.im even habouring plan to live Nigerian coz its getting much harder here.

Your uncle already warned you, "it might take time", then that brings the question, how long? And what exactly will you be doing? ?

I am not against you travelling, but I am against you giving up all the fight and the labour you have put into the business to grow it to the level of you even having to start for extension.

Pls continue with your business I beg u. In few years you will be made so well. Forget UK and all those sweet premises when you get there you'll see the truth .

Those "foreign guys" you are talking about, you will be dazed if they tell you what they involve in.

With patience and determination, you will one day travel to the UK on your, while your business is still booming strong.

Let's reason. Your uncle is not financially stable.what exactly does this mean? Sometimes he gets barely enough money to get by... and other times he is broke.... unable to provide for his kids.... maybe depends on his wife to pay the bills during these times. He can't find a well paying stable job... so how on earth would he find one for you fresh in the UK? ...and do you think it would be cool for you to be sitting around and eating scarce food for free?...when you get there they would tell you how much you have to contribute.If the kids are very young...I can tell you straight up... you would be the baby sitter.... they can't afford one.
You have a mini business... you have customers... grow your business... Rome wasn't built in a day. Why would you dash away what you took time to build all because of abroad? You sell out your business or lose your customers,... travel.. things don't work out... you return... you really think you can continue your business from where you left off? ...that your customers would be there waiting for you? Think again sis.
My advice... focus on your business... how best to expand it... what you can do to attract more customers... how you can add value to the frozen foods you sell. ... like adding spice to some... ready to cook. When you can afford to travel. .. do so.. and I suggest to the US... not to migrate but to visit... to have a good time but more importantly to gather fresh ideas on how to improve your business.... and shop stuff that would give it that boost. Trust me... you will see a much bigger and brighter future for your business and the thought of migrating will p o o f .... vanish.... just like that.

You are quite young and already have a business that is looking stable by return on investment, so if you sustain it for next 5 to 10 years you would become financially independent. Just try to open your mind and get more ideas on how to improve the branding and offering of the frozen foods business. Try to do it differently from what traders in informal sector are doing. Research the internet and source for ideas on how to go about it. You will be able to charge a premium if you do this.
