The Gambia are set to return to Commonwealth after four years it was pulled out of the Organisation by its Former Dictator and Head of State, Yayeh Jammehthe in 2013 on the grounds that the Commonwealth was a neo-colonial institution.

The Incumbent President of the country, Adama Barrow had made the promise of the Country rejoining the Commonwealth during the visit of Foreign Secretary Bosi Johnson, the first ever visit of a British Foreign Secretary to the Gambia.

The Gambia under President Barrow, sets to rebuild its reputation in the international community as battered by the Former Leader.

Already the European Union promised The Gambia an aid package of nearly £65m ($81m) - almost three years after the Union froze assistance to the West African nation.

Mr Barrow, who was just sworn in last month, has also said The Gambia will reverse its move to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC).
