Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has launched a 60-day action plan to improve the business climate, this is a laudable and welcome plan. Nevertheless one is tempted to remind him that to improve the business climate in Africa’s biggest economy struggling with recession, he will have to deal with ease of getting construction permit, access to reliable and affordable electricity, guarantee formal property rights, access to credit and improve allocation, protection of minority investors, elimination of the needless complexity in tax rules, ease of trading between Nigeria and other economies, the enforcement of contract and resolving insolvency related issues.

Globally, Nigeria stands at 138 in the ranking of 190 economies on the ease of starting a business. The rankings for comparator economies and the regional average ranking provide other useful information for assessing how easy it is for an entrepreneur in Nigeria to start a business.
