A bribe is a bribe. It is not a matter of quantity. Circumstance and intention are what define bribe. By the way everyone gives according to his capability. One can actually be outbribed if your opponent pays more. So your logic is not tenable.

A billionaire businessman or any other wealthy figure can easily give a gift of $1m to any judge or anybody for that matter. Would you simply conclude that because $1m is a 'huge' amount of money, then it must be a bribe? Then because N500k is a relatively 'small' amount of money, then it must be a gift?

Buhari didn't pay any bribe. I think the Daura led DSS has messed up yet again. If during the course of investigation, they found out that his lawyer had given the judge any money they should have promptly shot down that line of prosecution and tried instead to nail Ademola on the weapons charge. As it stands now, Ademola's prosecution will simply ask the court to infer if it is OK for other people to give money to Ademola and not OK for others. There's no way in hell the judge handling this case rule against Ademola on all the counts of receiving money for inducement. That count is dead.
But the fact is Buhari didn't pay anyone anything. Ademola's lawyers are just bringing it up to make a point. Only a lawyer or someone with sense will understand this. If you're dumb or a bigoted IPOD youth please don't quote me.

The gift according to the defence was given to the judge for the daughters wedding. The questions we should ask is was there a wedding at the time the gift was given? Does the president have any sort of friendly relationship with the judge to warrant a gift?
