We begin with darkness,
A sea of oblivion;
Torches we cannot shine on ourselves;
Torches we must shine on others;
The only way to be seen,
Is by another's light.

Pray, someone glows your corner,
Pray, someone finds you worthy;
Show them exactly where you are standing,
When you cast your beam to illuminate them
They will find you first,
Then find you worthy.

They will return the favor,
They will bathe you in light,
And Newton's law sees a stable symbiotic bond;
But if they wait too long to reciprocate,
They starve good intentions,
They tame the effervescence.

They wake the malice,
And feed the insecurities,
An unrequited love burns quickly into the sand;
And the spotlight in which they stand quivers,
Unsteady, until it is extinguished
And they'll be in darkness again.
