Lagos: Robbery suspect nabbed in bank premises … N1m recovered By NWANNE OKOYE Thursday, December 10, 2009 Police operatives from Apapa Division, Lagos, have arrested a suspected armed robber, whose gang allegedly specialised in using master keys to open doors of cars parked in bank premises. http://odili.net/news/source/2009/dec/10/514.html The suspect, Bartholomew Ofor, 32, and three others, were alleged to have successfully opened the door of a car and removed the sum of N1 million before he was apprehended. Luck ran out on him, after police operatives suspected him and three others simply identified as Sam, Matthew and Sunny and tried to arrest them. Ofor was apprehended, while his accomplices managed to escape. Daily Sun gathered that Ofor, a native of Cross Rivers State, was the one who actually opened the door of the car and removed the money. “Two of us went to the Oceanic Bank premises to steal valuable items inside customers’ vehicles. Policemen pursued us before they apprehended me. We usually operated at Apapa, Victoria Island and Ikeja. We used master keys to open car doors,” he said. Police told Daily Sun that they were still on the trail of the fleeing members of the gang. |
