Dating isn’t what it used to be. It used to be easier… simpler. Less complicated and convoluted.

These dating rules were practically handed down from generations and despite human capacity and extravagant liberty to change, manipulate and reform things, certain rules still come to play if a man and a woman must strike some kind of an intimate relationship.

There are obvious reasons as to why this is, and often we cannot be blamed. As we progress as a people and strive for greater things, dating will become more difficult.


Here are few rules of dating in the olden days:

1. Never make the first move
Unlike today; the women never make the first move to propose to man even if she has a strong for the man/man ask the girl/woman out on a date.

On dating apps where women make the first move, and with millions of guys actively on it, it seems men don’t mind.

Of course, they exchange contact, but it is the man who call first. Though, it also happens this days as well.

Some ladies do make the first move in this 21st century and it works fine with some men willing to go with the flow.

2. Act like a Lady
The style, fashion of women are considered here.
You are not going to meet a friend, but you are going on a date with your boo, of course you are expected to dress nicely just like a Celeb on red carpet.

3. Never kiss and tell
You don't have express all your mind to a pal... You don't need that my sis as it is not so during your Granny days.

In those days, both the boy and the girl keep everything about them secret.
Yes, It still happens now but isn't common like the days back.

4. Flirting is an indication of likeness
No flirting, no dating! When you flirt with a lady, it simply implies your interest in the girl.
The eye contact, flirty flipping of the eyelash – which by the way might have been what inspired the invention of an artificial eyelash, the flirty smiles and then the man gets the message and approaches the woman.

But if you think flirting with the person of interest doesn’t get them to date you, then the feeling may not be mutual.

5. Only date with marriage in mind
Younger couples might date and double date just for the fun anyway. When Dating get to a certain stage, it become more po-faced and by this time, marriage proposal comes to one's mind.

All this happened in the olden days and still, eventually happens in the 20th century.
