Elementary mathematics is a tool you need all through life, in fact, x & y built this world & everything we see & use today. For example, I would never have understood complex Engineering mathematics if i didn't first search for x & y in my youthful days. The x & y were the bedrock of the complex 'useful' mathematical applications i now use today.

If you think looking for x & y or learning mathematics is useless, do not enrol your child in a school or enrol them and exempt mathematics from their subjects and observe what will become of their analytical reasoning.

If you think knowledge is useless, try ignorance.

Unless they are writing 1 and 0's.

x and y are representatives of real life events, i love maths anyday any time cos it broadens the mind. I just finished luxxor group company aptitude tests and it still involves x and y in a sense.
