Imagine this...

Imagine having the privilege of fulfilling your wildest fantasy. Imagine being in a position to adjudge your boss at this moment and determine his stay on the job.

Imagine being able to cut the fat loose by sacking your manager and depriving him/her of any right to further control your life, your joy, sense of satisfaction, appraisal points and much more.

Imagine having the pleasure of breaking the stranglehold your supervisor wields over you. Imagine being free to truly be yourself, and fulfill your purest potentials without the control or influence of anyone hovering over and about you.

Well whats stopping you?

Everyday all over the world, professionals lose themselves in a never-ending circle of frustration about their superiors. Countless many individuals have quit their jobs, some have changed their careers while other have resigned and gone into business for themselves all in a bid to escape the 'demon' they know as boss.

In Africa as is not unexpected, the tales are much worse. The social economic challenges across the continent and the scarcity of jobs have made many to be confined as prisoners of their current employ. It is little wonder that bosses are seen as demi-gods (for good or bad) and where the experiences of many junior co-workers are not palatable, they merely groan under their misfortune rather than seek to correct or address the ills.

What's however startling in its simplicity and factuality is reality of the 'self' in the scheme of things. The fact that however great or poor your work-life is, the true boss - who determines your course and the main outcomes of your life (and work) is yourself.

Think about it, when as a young man or lady you wrote entrance exams in the Uni and began to craft a picture of your future (however small or big) who was there with you? When your mates were studying like crazy to be distinguished and all you did was party and have fun, who appraised you?

When you settled for a Second Class lower when your potential was way higher, and decided against putting in for a second degree as others with better (or worse) degrees did, who adjudged you wrong and compelled you to do otherwise?

Who's making you feel satisfied with your currently average life? Telling you the problem lies with the government, the economy, the forces and your village people rather than compelling you to look within and think about how to evolve yourself as you ascend your professional and career ladder?

Who indulged you to stop writing and reading helpful literature but instead waste your precious 'few' time on social media? who taught you that your weekend bar-crawling was way cooler than attending classes for professional courses? who's led you down the path of instant gratification and delayed responsibility? Who controls your life this much without much progress, success or achievement?

Who is this boss who is rolling your life like some dice if not you...

So the one boss who needs to be sacked is not the one who shares your work-space, who himself is subservient to this evil boss, but the one who resides way closer in your mind's recess.

The boss who deserves to be fired without fail is the you in you which makes mediocrity common place. The other you that makes you satisfied with your average life. The guy who kills your ambition with time-killing nothingness. The other you that has stopped you from finding and releasing the real you.

This boss pushes the responsibility of your life to someone else. It accuses your work boss of impeding your progress. It accuses the government of stifling your potentials; it blames the society for your misfortunes. It blames and claims and pushes the responsibility for your life's success on others without forcing you to be better or take charge of your life.

This boss needs to be fired for your true self to be found. I fired mine not so long ago and here i am writing again.

Will you do same and quit whining or would you rather remain same yet hopelessly expect better results?

Don’t bother answering, just reflect and decide what’s best.
