Most appliances should tell you how much power they use, this is in Watts. If if uses 1000 Watts, then after you use it for an hour you have used 1 kWh and are billed accordingly.

Go through your home, look at each item and how much power it uses, and how often you use it and you will be able to find out what proptortion of your energy bill it uses up.

In my place the biggest cost is hot water.
