Job Description/Skills requirement of Tourism personnel

1. Chief Tour Guide/Tour Guide/Tour Logistics Officer/Advance Party

Job Description:
a. Escorting tourists on cruise
b. Sharing unique information about tour stops and other sites between stops
c. Providing directions
d. Translating and interpreting where necessary (and if capable)
e. Coordination of various parties on tour (tourists, driver, photographer, security, advance party and operations team)
f. Preparing the destination in advance of the arrival of the tourist team (advance party)
Skills:
a. Flexible and proactive
b. Good presentation skill
c. Enthusiastic and friendly
d. Good verbal communication (fluent spoken English)
e. Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds
f. Multiple language skills (English, French, Dutch, Hausa, Yoruba, Ibo)
g. Time management skills
h. Ability to retain historical facts
i. Good knowledge of Abuja (road, history, locations etc)
Qualification:
a. Chief Tour Guide: Masters Degree in relevant programs like business, social sciences and law.
b. Relevant Working experience in senior management role in a Hotel, Tourism industry or Aviation sector related
c. Tour Guide, Logistics/Advance Party Officers: Not below Diploma in relevant fields. Relevant working experience is an added advantage

2. Operations Manager

Job Description:
a. Coordinating activities of other personnel (including support staff) in the entire process chain
b. Providing vendor-management interface between organization and service providers
c. Evaluating destinations/stops to meet management minimum requirement
d. Setting and reviewing mode of operation/service delivery, budgets and managing cost
e. Report of activities
f. Personnel appraisal
g. Responsible for input and resource requirement for all relevant business processes
h. Preparing tour schedule and report after each tour
i. Development of training programmes (template and manuals for orientation and refresher programmes)
Skills:
a. Ability to manage subordinates
b. Ability to delegate responsibilities effectively
c. Ability to look at issues from several point of view
d. Supervisory function over all office and field activities
e. Report writing skill
f. Very good at financial negotiations
g. Inventory management skill
Qualification: Masters Degree, Minimum of 10 years working experience 5 of which must have been in GM or Senior Manager role in Aviation, transportation, Hotel and Tourism industry

3. Head, Business Development/Marketers/Hotel Coordinators
Job Description:
a. Sourcing and identifying prospective clients
b. Develop business proposals for existing and new clients (target audience client)
c. Research to identify new opportunities for business for improvement and expansion purposes
d. Development of targeted packages for groups like schools, churches, professional bodies etc
Skills:
a. Strong inter-personal, communication
b. Creative, persuasive and negotiation skills
c. Networking skills (building and maintaining relationships)
d. Paying attention to details
e. Good presentation skill
Qualification: Graduate with 5 years relevant working experience in a direct marketing related role.

4. Website Officer/Graphics Design Officer
Job Description:
a. Design, develop and maintain existing and new websites and web-based products and resources and appropriate tools and back-end databases
b. Assist with the maintenance and development of technical infrastructure , including installing, testing and deploying new software and system tools
c. Work closely with communication leads to ensure that content of websites and web-based products and resources is accurate and timely
d. Update of website content periodically
e. Review website features from time-to-time e.g security features
f. Tracking of issues relating to website e.g expiration of domain name
g. Creating images that identify a product or convey a message
h. Developing graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations, logo and websites
i. Selecting colours, images, text style and layout
j. Incorporating changes recommended to design
k. Reviewing designs for error
Skills:
a. Basic computer skill, including relevant professional requirements
b. Accuracy and attention to details
c. A graphics design officer must have excellent IT skills, especially with design & photo-editing software
d. A graphics design officer must be creative and innovative
e. A graphics design officer must understand the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
f. A graphics design officer must have professional approach to time, cost and deadline
Qualification: Graduate with required/relevant professional qualifications

5. Account Officer
Job Desciption:
a. Financial record keeping
b. Treasury management
c. Management of payables and receivables
d. Account reconciliation
e. Preparation of statutory and periodic reports
Skills:
a. Relevant educational qualification
b. IT skills (ability to use basic office tools and accounting software packages)
c. Reporting skill
d. Good with figures
Qualification: A graduate of accounting or related courses, 5 years working experience

6. Driver
Job Description:
a. Driving vehicles for official purpose
b. Carrying out routine checks on vehicles to ensure fitness, being properly kept and maintained
c. Any other assignment

Skills:
a. Matured disposition and relevant experience with valid driver’s licence
b. Good knowledge of the Abuja metropolis/road network
Qualification: Valid driver’s license, minimum of WAEC/GCE

7. Photographer
Job Description:
a. Covering and taking pictures of tourists at all locations and according to photo-album specifications
b. Arrangement of pictures on per client basis for photo-album production
Skills:
a. Skill in handling cameras of different specifications
b. A considerable level of graphics and IT skill
c. Creative and innovative skill
Qualification:
Must be literate, have experience in photo-journalism or a practitioner in the photographic industry.
