In the wake of Victor Moses extending his stay at Chelsea Fc, and in anticipation of Chelsea’s game with West Ham this weekend, Hammers boss Slaven Bilic has been talking about Moses, who was on loan at Upton Park last season.

Bilic’s comments were extremely positive on the whole, complimenting many aspects of the winger’s game and saying that even Dimitri Payet had pointed him out as a good player.

This makes it slightly more puzzling that the Croatian manager didn’t pick Moses very often, and that he didn’t take the chance to sign him permanently.

A clue may come in what the West Ham manager said about Moses’ qualities:

‘HIS POTENTIAL, HIS CHARACTERISTICS, HIS STRENGTH, WERE ALWAYS AMAZING. HIS PACE, QUALITY ON THE BALL AND STAMINA IS BASICALLY TOP, TOP CLASS. SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO PUSH HIM TO DO IT DAY IN DAY OUT AND NOW HE IS DOING IT.’

The idea that you would have to “push” Moses to do anything is pretty alien to Blues fans who have seen nothing but hard work from him since the day he arrived from Wigan. But maybe, farmed out on loan for the third consecutive time last year, the 26 year old was just a bit fed up?

This is why I will always respect coaches like conte who sees beyond the hype and price of players but potentials.

The same mubilic won't sign a full contract and relegate our dear moses to bench cos he knew nothing about football.

What this guy said about Moses may be true cuz you see traces of it in some of his games for Nigeria but he seems to have advised himself to buckle up or get the boot
