The Lagos airport (both international and local) has received a considerable amount of attention over the years for the things that go down within it. Although the airport is used by most people leaving and coming into the country, it has become a shadow of itself due to management issues.

The airport which is supposed to reflect a lot about the Nigerian culture and tourism is starting to fade when it comes to those areas. Normally, there should be some important information about the history of the country, our way of life, destinations and the best hotels to lodge in for foreigners.

All these is not in any way to tarnish theimage of the Lagos Airport as it will always remain the busiest in Nigeria and arguably in Africa. It is however hope that the government would look into some of the raised concerns here and redeem its glory.

If you have ever been at Lagos Airport, you may be able to relate with one or all of the following things:

1. Poor ventilation
People who have had the opportunity totravel outside the country feel somewhat disappointed when they get to the airport and they have to fan themselves continuously till their car arrives.

The air conditioning system is either faulty or not working with the heat recorded in the airport. On the other hand, the air conditioners may be overworked or limited; thus it will not have any positive impact on those waiting to board or those arriving.

2. The epileptic power supply
This is a poor way of welcoming Nigerians who have been away from the country for a while. The seizing power supply is a reminder that things are yet to go back to normal in the country. It is embarrassing for the power to go off while at the airport.

Nigerians are not the only ones using the services rendered at the airport. Thus, it is not a good way of showing the nation to the foreigners who are not used to power shortage.

3. Officials who want to receive tips
Why is it hard for Nigerians to carry out their tasks without waiting for any type of bribe? What happened to the biblical saying that their reward is in heaven?

Nigerians expect people entering the country to ‘drop’ something for them before they help them do things that they ought to do normally as airport workers. Many of them will greet you to a point where you will be embarrassed.

4. The unyielding taxi drivers
People who do not have relatives to pick them upon landing in the country have to be at the mercy of the airport taxi drivers who want to milk them at all cost.

The mentality is that they can collect good money from them before they settle down to the Nigerian economy. The moment you leave the lounge, you are most likely to get drowned in their hoarse voices.

5. The unbearable hours it takes to get cleared
Most people dread the long hours they have to wait for before they get cleared. And to think that all these can happen when the weather is hot and the air conditioners are not working, you will need more than the newspaper to fan yourself. The services are also slow andcan push you off the cliff if you are closeto the edge.

6. Lack of coordination
It would be good for you to take your mind off some things as soon as you get to the airport. Perhaps, consoling yourself by saying 'God's time is the best' will help you a great deal as soon as you enter.

You will be making a great mistake by comparing the services you will get at the airport here to that which you have gotten in other countries. It will make you irritated if you have to compare the services.

Nigerians hope that things will get better and the airport would at least offer the kind of reception that befits the nation as the giant of Africa.

Always only one baggage carousel working

You stand and wait in the poorly ventilated, No A/C lounge and wait for hours for your luggage.

Plus: in recent times, the toilets are a bit clean. Wanna see horrible toilet? Try Addis Ababa airport cheesy
